I lost one of my best replies on an Arator thread, documenting how a lot of this disaster can be laid at the feet of Clinton, the media, and the people who voted for him for the "good economy." A few people must have hit the abuse button and all the good posts get lost with the "bad." With all that Clinton did to help Arafat vs. Israel, and Bin Laden's boys in the Balkans, and his policies continuing, I can't see our foreign policy as a reason for this, except in regards to Iraq. Nothing about this makes sense at all, but we can all count on the terrorist cells continuing to be tolerated (what other word is there?) by the government, even though their claimed reasons for that tolerance now have 10,000 reasons why it is a failure.

We're stuck in a coldwar policy vis-a-vis Israel, whether by inadvertence or design. The Gulf War laid the foundation of alliances which could have been built upon but were squandered, but I don't pretend that the right course would have been easy to find.
