All well-and-good ... I've always been a great fan of James Madison.
That being said, however, who was the President during the War of 1812?
Madison, you say? Hmmmmm.

Madison's observations are no less relevant just because he happened to be President when the British attacked America (for the second time). In fact, being President when an enemy attacked America, made him a very good observer of the consequences of war (especially its impact on the Executive Branch).

That being said, however, who was the President during the War of 1812? And we got what we wanted there, didn't we? (End to British support of Native Americans, end to real resistance to Manifest Destiny and westward expansion).
