The Taliban are "on board" if you're willing to take announcements at face value. On of the foreign ministers said that if the US can provide evidence of Bin Laden's involvment they were proceed to extradite him. Just yesterday they were saying it was impossible for him to have carried this out. What if we had provided evidence to them of the Cole attack (not that we could have) and connections to Osama? What about the African embassy bombings?
Too little. Too late, Taliban. Make your time.

"Just yesterday they were saying it was impossible for him to have carried this out." For a long time they have said they can't turn him over because he fought wth them against the Soviets and is a brother in arms. But they also insisted that they were not allowing him to operate freely. FWIW if you look at English language newspapers out of Pakistan, editorials are split between the "Americans are too quick to blame Osama" line and the standard editorial response you'd see in any mainstream EU paper. So far as I can tell, there are no English daily newspapers out of Afganistan.

What about the African embassy bombings? My response to the Taliban's claim that "Bin Laden doesn't have the resources to do this" would be, "then I guess he must have done it with your help -- do you really want to go there?"
