We will have to wait and see. Actually, I believe there were battles in the Civil War where the causalty rate may be higher.

But clearly, NOTHING compares to this since, and NOTHING compares in terms of non-combatant loss.

I expect that the losses will approach and maybe exceed 20,000 in terms of deaths.

We MUST exact a swift, horrific and lasting retribution against any organization that did this AND against ANY nation that abetted it.

Once we know who those organizations and nations are, I believe thus use of tactical nuclear devices is in order and would make the statement to those responsible and to thew world to NEVER EVER consoider such action against the USA again.

You are correct. It must be swift. It must be deadly. It must say that ANY minimally involved nation AND group will die. It must, as you aptly stated, send the statement that it is insanity and death to ever consider attacking this nation again!

Like you, Jeff I am overwhelmed with emotions on this dreadful day. When we know the source of this incomprehensible savagry and those who assisted in its perpetration, America must respond with fury.

In terms of non-war event, this will far outrank them all- and I may be mistaken, but if these early reports are correct, even the bloodiest of Civil War battles if you count the vast number of injuries on top of deaths. But it's not just the casualties- consider that every plane in the US has been grounded, the Capitol evacuated, major cities shut down, schools closed, markets closed, and the populace in a general state of fear, governments have shut down...these people have virtually crippled the world.
