Because of the proximity of National Airport, airliners overfly the area around the Pentagon almost constantly and at low altitudes. We're talking a few hundred feet on a regular basis. The only way those batteries would have done any good would have been for them to start blowing planes out of the sky regardless of percieved intent. I know that you weren't suggesting that they do that.

Now that all air traffic is supposed to be grounded, the military will be able to prevent further instances.

I'm a few miles away from Andrews AFB and I'm surprised that I'm not hearing much in the way of aircraft launching.

I think we'll find that things were already in motion but that the information was still being disseminated when the Pentagon was hit.

My sister-in-law believes she saw the plane turn towards the Pentagon. She was sitting in traffic and thought it was odd that the plane turned toward her right. Normally, they'd have been turning the other way toward Dulles. If the plane was veering off from a Dulles flight plan, it would have reached the Pentagon in under 30 seconds.

Reading through these comments almost one year later still gives me the chills and I am sure it will for the rest of my life. I was not a FR member on 911. I found FR more then a month later during an internet search. I am glad I did too because FR is a great place to be to share your thoughts, especially in these hard times of remembering.
