My cousin called us and told us to put the news on...it was 6:30 here in San Diego. As soon as I saw the flames and video of the plane, I looked at my husband and asked him what the date was. He said, September 11th. I said, remember this date, it's the day the word changed.

I know it sounds melodramatic, but that's exactly what happened.

I just finished baking the brownies to take to the fire station down the street.

My family has done this every year for the past four years...a card of appreciation and some sort of warm baked good thanking them.
