Cheney, Bush's designated arm-twister on Capitol Hill, was at a back table with Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, while Card took a side table with House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt.

Man, take about taking one for the boss.

I wonder how many phone books Little Tommy Dasshole had to sit on to be eye level with Cheney.

In step with Bush's courtship of Catholic voters, Cardinal Roger Mahony, the archbishop of Los Angeles, was at the president's table.

If Bush wants to court Catholic voters, he would be well advised to forget about Cardinal Mahoney. This man has become the poster boy for all things anti-Traditional Catholic. He has desecrated the Cathedral in his diocese, ignoring the pleas and directives from authorities in Rome. He has initiated and participated in "Masses" that slap at the face of "Holy Mother Church" and her magnificent Sacrament of the Eucharist.

I would love to know just who it was who advised President Bush on inviting this most controversial spokesman to represent the Roman Catholic Church.

Not to mention the "in step with his courtship of Catholics....." remark. Since when does the media make remarks like that about those invited to state dinners? Since Bush of course. Nothing he does suits them, and any opportunity to get in a little dig is never passed up.
