Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) announced Thursday that he is running for House Republican Conference chair, arguing that the party’s election losses stemmed from broken promises and leadership’s unwillingness to pursue conservative policies.
“Republicans didn’t lose because we were too conservative. We lost because we failed to deliver on the conservative policies we promised,” Steube wrote in his announcement. “I’m not interested in preserving the status quo. I’m stepping forward to give Members a conservative choice and take our Conference in a new direction.”
Steube joins a contest that includes incumbent Conference Chair Lisa McClain (R-MI) and Rep. Erin Houchin (R-IN), as House Republicans choose their leadership following the loss of their majority. McClain is seeking another term in the position.
In a letter to colleagues, Steube accused Republican leaders of putting Washington’s demands ahead of their commitments to voters. He said conservatives who questioned the party’s decisions had been brushed aside. He wrote:
We had the resources, the opportunity, and the responsibility to govern. Yet too often, instead of standing firm on our principles, our leadership chose accommodation over conviction. The priorities of Washington took precedence over the commitments we made to the voters who put us here. Conservatives who raised concerns about our direction were too often ignored. The election results should make clear that this approach has failed. I have been outspoken about these failures because I believe our Conference deserves better. We cannot continue doing the same things, making the same excuses, and expecting a different result. We need to take an honest look at where we went wrong and have the courage to change course.

But it's hard to get worse than what we have had.
I find him totally uninspiring.
But it’s hard to get worse than what we have had.
I tend to agree, but I supposed we could give him the chance to disappoint us.

“Steube joins a contest that includes incumbent Conference Chair Lisa McClain (R-MI) and Rep. Erin Houchin (R-IN).”
Steube is the most conservative of the three mentioned in this article.
That’s true, but it would save time to just be disappointed from the get go.
The RINOs got the results they wanted. They like being subservient to the Left.
“...We lost because we failed to deliver on the conservative policies we promised...”
What did the conservative party promise that wasn’t accomplished or an effort is still happening?
“I tend to agree, but I supposed we could give him the chance to disappoint us.”
He already has. He has just spelled out the entire package of what the socialists have proven with this elecion other than they can lie to the voters. They proved they can brainwash the public into not considering what they have and listening to those that promise something they cannot provide. Trump has provided:
Economy & Taxes
• Working Families Tax Cuts: Signed major tax legislation—including the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”—making prior tax cuts permanent and enacting policies such as “No Tax on Tips,” “No Tax on Overtime,” “No Tax on Social Security,” and senior deductions.
• Investment & Manufacturing:
Aided a manufacturing expansion and secured trillions in new private and foreign investments for domestic production and reshoring.
• Energy & Inflation: Promoted domestic energy production (pipelines and drilling) and helped lower inflation and gas prices from previous administration highs.
• Prescription Drugs: Implemented measures targeting lower prescription drug prices and pursued “most favored nations” pricing structures.
Immigration & Border Security
• Border Enforcement: Implemented strict border measures, ending “catch-and-release” and significantly reducing illegal crossings and net migration numbers.
• Cartel and Gang Enforcement: Designated major drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and increased law enforcement operations against cartels and transnational gangs.
Government Efficiency & Administration
• Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE): Tasked efficiency initiatives led by Elon Musk to target federal waste, fraud, and abuse, reporting substantial federal spending cuts under review.
• Executive Actions & Declassification: Issued hundreds of executive orders focusing on foreign policy, deregulation, and the declassification of specific federal investigations.
Foreign Policy & Defense
• Trade Rebalancing: Renegotiated and rebalanced trade agreements with partners like Canada and applied strategic tariffs to protect domestic manufacturing supply chains.
• Military & Security Operations: Expanded military readiness, established the Space Force (continued from his first term), and executed national security and counter-narcotics operations abroad.
Crime Rate
The U.S. crime rate is down significantly. According to official data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and reports compiled by USAFacts, the United States experienced a historic drop in crime.
National Crime Highlights (2025 Data last full year)
• Violent Crime Rate: Fell by 9.3% to 9.7% nationwide, dropping from 362.9 to 327.6 offenses per 100,000 residents. This marks the largest single-year decline in violent crime since the FBI began tracking records in 1936.
• Murder / Homicide:
Dropped by 18.1% to over 20%, bringing the national murder rate down to roughly 4.1 per 100,000 inhabitants—the lowest level in about 70 years.
• Robbery: Down 18.5% to 18.9%, reaching a 20-year low.
• Rape: Down 7.6%.
• Aggravated Assault: Down 7.2%.
• Property Crime:
Dropped by 12.4% to 12.8% overall:
• Motor Vehicle Theft: Down 22.7%
• Burglary: Down 15.8%
• Larceny-Theft: Down 9.8%
Legislative and Policy Accomplishments (Administration-Reported & Legislative)
• Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (2017): Signed a major tax overhaul that lowered the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, doubled the standard deduction, and expanded the child tax credit. Proponents state it provided widespread tax relief for families and businesses, while critics argue it disproportionately benefited high-earners and corporations.
• H.R. 1 / One Big Beautiful Bill (July 2025): Made the 2017 working-family tax cuts permanent, introduced Trump Accounts, and established “No Tax on Tips” and senior deductions.
• GENIUS Act (July 2025): Created a federal regulatory framework for stablecoins under the Treasury Department.
• Trade and Tariff Policy: Replaced NAFTA with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and implemented tariffs aimed at protecting domestic manufacturing and rebalancing trade relationships.
• Deregulation & Energy: Reduced federal regulations and pushed for increased domestic oil and gas production.
Personal and Family Business Revenue (Disclosures and Reports)
• Cryptocurrency and Ventures: According to financial disclosures covering 2025, Donald Trump and family ventures generated over $2 billion in income, heavily driven by cryptocurrency projects including a memecoin launch and World Liberty Financial. Critics and reports note that retail investors experienced steep losses on the memecoin, while administration defenders point to broader market enthusiasm and digital asset policy shifts.
• Real Estate and Licensing: International real estate developments and licensing deals across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe contributed to his enterprise income during his return to office.
U.S. paychecks are up”
Cumulative paychecks are up roughly 25% to 38% since before the pandemic in 2019–2020.
Typical full-time U.S. workers saw base pay or weekly earnings increase by roughly 1.5% to 3.6% over the past year with median weekly pay around $1,232 to $1,250.
There’s more but the board will get pissed at me if I continue to display facts. So did Trump renege on his promises or make the people safer, stronger, and better equiped for the future? Help yourelf and those around you looking at the truth rather than contemplating what liars tell you.

But, but, nothing is happening. Thank you for the list.
“We lost because we failed to deliver on the conservative policies we promised,”
Perhaps in the legislative assemblies. Trump did pretty much exactly what he said he’d do. And many times he had to drag his own party, kicking and screaming to do it.

I’m aware of the truth and I don’t dispute what you are saying. Let Me rephrase. Most Republican know the truth of what you speak, some- not all, but some of the Freepers understand it too. What the GOP’s and even fundamentally, at the state and local levels problem was, we didn’t communicate worth a crap ahead of this election. Outside of rallies, that a sampling of our own voters would attend, few heard a positive message. The press sure didn’t share it. A bunch of the campaigns from bottom to top that lost may have tried to share some past accomplishments, but didn’t seem to touch base with the distress that voters were feeling in their immediate pocketbook mentalities. I agree things are better now, with Trump overall, than before. But that and 50 cents didn’t get us a cup of coffee today. Maybe within the next 2 years some of the nay voters will see it different.
“Maybe within the next 2 years some of the nay voters will see it different.”
Nope, they are just posturing for another of the rules for radicals that Saul Allinsky created for the attack upon the people of the US.:
“Whenever possible go outside the expertise of the enemy.”
“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”
“Keep the pressure on.”
“The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”
“If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative.”
Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.) They have already started the attack on Trump and Vance even before the paperwork to get the liars in was signed.
And finally, “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” And this is where they fail but the brainwashed fools don’t have an alternative to the success Trump has accomplished. All they have is the createment of hate. And after Tump is gone in 2028, they will have control of the congress and will just dirty someone else to see how many generations it takes for them to be discovered, if ever.
“But that and 50 cents didn’t get us a cup of coffee today.”
It is a combination of two things:
1. The GOP didn’t fight for it. They allowed the socialists to beat them everything to nothing. Not every sourse in the US is liberal. Did you see any other than FOX and even that is owned by many liberal corporations and misused. They didn’t make the effort.
2. The public is like little children with a short attention span and a very self important reward acceptance attitude. And in many cases they are just flat dishonest and really stupid in their actions. And the thought provoking part they don’t care about is it can’t get better going back to what they had in 2025 whch is where it has to go if the socialists are going to command the ship. (Except the taxes will be higher on them due to inflation when they pull the Trump achieved tax cuts).
So worrying about what we lost today is minuscule to what they will hammer the public on the cross with after 2028. Enjoy your coffee and be happy it is as cheap as it is. It’s going to get a whole lot more expensive.

“Thank you for the list.”
You’re welcome. But that isn’t the complete list. Do your homework and find the other things Trump supoposedly didn’t do or didn’t get displayed. Then tell everyone you know and some you don’t. You’d be surprized how socialist/liberals will walk away from that discussion. They fear the truth.
And you’ll have to start with where it all began like I did so you can get a better understanding of it. It started with the liberals and their lying actions. But deep in their castle they created a monster just like Marian Shelley’s book. And it will kill them just like the story and has a history of doing that. It’s called socialism. Now their monster is threatening them and they can’t stop it while it runs amok. She was way ahead of her time.
wy69
I’m still agreeing with you.
So worrying about what we lost today is minuscule to what they will hammer the public on the cross with after 2028. Enjoy your coffee and be happy it is as cheap as it is. It’s going to get a whole lot more expensive.
I’m not worrying nor dwelling in the past, but choosing to understand. I think neither of us are defeatists. To hell with those who are. I have, do and will continue to enjoy my cheap coffee. I’ve stocked up.
What the GOP’s and even fundamentally, at the state and local levels problem was, we didn’t communicate worth a crap ahead of this election.
We're in a new era of communication, and only one side seems to be living in it. The old guard consultant class is about to be relegated to the dustbin of history. If you think that high prices lost the election for the right, you don't understand marketing. Humans have no problem paying a premium for a good quality brand. Notice the word "brand", not "product". Are Nikes better than New Balance? Nope. But the brand is better. And notice what happened when they tinkered with the brand and screwed their core narrative? Nike stock fell through the basement. Did the product change? Nope. The brand did. It's not the product, it's the brand. Results don't sell the product, the storytelling does. Will these newly-elected commies lower prices? Of course not. Are they gonna get you free healthcare? No, your insurance is gonna get even worse, just like it did the last time they tried socialized medicine. They're not going to do anything they've sold you, but...like Saul Goodman said: if you're committed enough, you can make any story work.
The committed storytelling of a couple insane podcasters was enough to fracture an entire political coalition from their own side in less than 2 years...they have zero power, zero credibility, they've never actually governed anything nor produced any results, but...they're good storytellers, and that's all that matters. Are they telling a good story? No, it's atrocious, but they're telling their atrocious story effectively and compellingly.
It is 100% true that everything's too damn expensive, and we all know that inflated prices are always sticky. Does anyone know that it's entirely the result of shutting down the global economy over the flu and (both naive republicans and democrats) printing infinity dollars for several years? Nope...because nobody has effectively told that story, and it's an unsexy story to tell. "Free stuff!" is a VERY easy story to tell, and when everyone's gotta take out a second mortgage just to pay their insurance premiums, "free healthcare" is an unbeatable story. It doesn't matter that "free healthcare" doesn't exist and socialized medicine is a terrible product...it's not the product, it's the brand. And "FREE!" is a great brand.
You can't get mad at people for having the financial literacy of a 9 year old. I mean, you can, but they outnumber you a million to one, so it's not going to be productive. You need to figure out how to make an unsexy story sexy, or else the "free stuff!" crowd is going to eat your lunch every time. If you give people a choice between earning a six pack on a treadmill or taking Ozempic, they're gonna choose Ozempic...they don't care about the side effects. If you give people a choice between fiscal discipline or free stuff...guess what they'll pick? They don't care about the side effects.
With projected growth of 5%, the economy right now is stronger than it's been in generations. Is that the story you hear? Nope. Is that the vibe you feel? Absolutely not, especially when every time you fill up your gas tank, it feels like a diesel enema.
It's not the product, it's the brand. A great product can fall into oblivion with bad messaging...a single bad review from one effective storyteller can tank a restaurant. The "influencer economy" is lucrative for a reason; everybody inherently understands the importance of effective storytelling...except the right. Zohran Mamdani gets it...he has an army of influencers on staff. In a perfect metaphor of this transitional phase of old guard vs new wave political messaging, Zohran nuked the Vice President into oblivion with maybe the biggest ratio in the history of the internet. By simply posting the subway assistant meme, Mamdani got 2 MILLION likes, quoting a post from the VP that had only 10K likes. If you're reading that sentence thinking "this is fucking ridiculous, you're talking about social media likes as political analysis now?"...you are the problem.
Yes, this stuff matters. Rizz matters. The President did a masterful job of this kind of retail politics in his historic 2024 campaign...you can be angry that this is what politics has been reduced to, but you can either adapt or die.
"No the problem is, you didn't deliver enough for the American people!" Are you a moron? Since when does anybody care about that? What have democrats delivered for Californians in the last 20 years? Unmitigated wildfires, homeless drug zombies everywhere, roads that look like Fallujah in 2004...people don't care about results. They think they care about results. That want you to believe they care about results, just as Nike wants you to believe their shoes are better than New Balance...but at the end of the day, all people really care about is the swoosh.
Adapt or die.
Guys, I hate to break it to you, but most political advisors are so bafflingly incompetent, it would make your head spin. All the talented communicators go work in Hollywood or at Saatchi and Saatchi, and these political bros never tap these agencies for help...I've connected several campaigns with literally the best marketing geniuses in the game, got them discounted rates, even...and they just never even bothered calling. It truly feels like a lot of consultants and candidates just want to lose. You ever wonder how my ads went so massively viral, but there's not been a single candidate who's come close to it? It's their dumbass advisors. I didn't go with any political advisors, and they were SO mad about it. I partnered with a filmmaker and marketing wizard, instead of political grifters. Why? Because I wanted our messaging to be effective. Political ads suck. Nobody watches them. I wanted people to want to watch my ads. The fact that nobody else understands this is...I honestly don't know how to explain it, other than they want to lose.
There are a bunch of candidates who love it when their party loses power. It takes all the heat off them, because then they can't be expected to pass legislation when they're in the minority, plus they can fundraise way better off of the rage when the opposition is running roughshod over the country. Baffling to watch.
but at the end of the day, all people really care about is the swoosh.
......
LOL That is a decent summary.
