Polls open at 9 a.m. Monday for Alberta's 10-question referendum, but Airdrie residents need to check where they're assigned to vote before heading out.
Airdrie falls within two provincial electoral divisions, Airdrie-East and Airdrie-Cochrane. Voting is scheduled to continue until 8 p.m.
The vote follows preliminary figures released Sunday by Elections Alberta showing 1,356,873 Albertans cast advance votes or special ballots, representing 43.1 per cent of eligible electors.

What are Albertans voting on?
Monday's referendum contains 10 questions covering immigration, access to provincially funded services, proposed constitutional changes and Alberta's future within Canada.
Questions 1 through 5 address immigration policy, eligibility for provincial programs, a proposed 12-month residency requirement for individuals with a non-permanent legal immigration status before qualifying for certain provincially funded social support programs, proposed health-care and education fees for people with non-permanent immigration status, and proof of citizenship for provincial elections.
Questions 6 through 9 ask whether Alberta should work with other willing provinces to pursue constitutional amendments involving judicial appointments, abolishing the Senate, federal programs and conflicts between provincial and federal laws.
Question 10 asks voters to choose between Alberta remaining a province of Canada and the provincial government beginning the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a future binding referendum on separation.
The question does not itself constitute a binding vote on Alberta separating from Canada.

Those registering at the polls must provide acceptable identification establishing their identity and current physical residential address.
What identification do voters need?
At regular polling locations, voters must establish their identity and current physical residential address.
An Alberta driver's licence or identification card can be used on its own if it includes the voter's full legal name and current physical address.
Alternatively, voters can present two accepted pieces of identification. Both must show their full name, and at least one must show their current physical address."

If it passes, Ottawa will find some technical angle to invalidate it.
No way do they let their cash cow go.
There is a massive risk for the average Albertan on succession. If they leave that means individuals would give up their Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Pension. This could leave retirees without any money. As much as I despise Ottawa, and everything about Canada’s regional welfare scheme, the thought of leaving might be rather scary.
It would also be the death knell for the national Conservative Party. Liberals would rule the rest of Canada pretty much forever.
No way Carney lets his and Brookfield’s cash cow go.LOL
