Wonder why they were working on something like that? New UKEFLU in the offing?

Doesn’t everyone play with highly infectious and dangerous germs?

This is unsettling. They knew exactly when and what she was exposed to: the exact pathogen. And she still could not be treated successfully with an effective antibiotic? What else is going on here?

An employee of a local anti-plague institute died from the disease.

Looks like she was working at a 'war is peace' institute...

This is a bacterial infection, not a virus.

I fear sooner or later it’s going to happen. All over the world people are screwing with this stuff.

Quest AI:

“Yersinia pestis infection is treatable with antibiotics, and most patients survive when effective treatment begins promptly. For bubonic plague, treatment started within 24 hours of symptoms is associated with high recovery rates; untreated bubonic plague has a reported fatality rate of about 30%–66%, depending on the source.”

Of course! I had the 'My First Bioweapon' set when I was a kid, along with my chemistry and bomb making sets. Educational toys are the best.

And from a quick search: "Yersinia pestis, the bacterium that causes plague, is primarily found in the western United States, where it circulates among wild rodents and is transmitted to humans through flea bites or contact with infected animals. "

And from Wiki: "Between 1970 and 2023, 502 cases were reported in the United States, with an average of 7 cases per year. Cases have been found predominantly in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, California, Oregon, and Nevada."

Media. Here, there and everywhere.

Darn good bet that every bio-lab works on this everywhere.

Did Fauci pay for this, too, or are the Russians doing it on their own?

Unlike smallpox, plague still has a non-human reservoir and a few people in western states catch it every year.

This should have been easily treatable if caught early. And obviously it was. Unless this was a bio-engineered form of the bacteria. And, if that was the case, why was she not wearing biohazard protective gear? Something is not right here.

The exact scenario that played out in Annie Jacobsen's recent book.

Genetically modified pneumonic plague is released from Russia during an accidental lab leak, an airborne infectious disease that is 100% fatal if left untreated.

It's modified to feature a euphoria onset, making people think that not only they're not sick but energized to go out in public, to the gym, clubs, wherever people are around, not even realizing they are sweating and have 102 degree fevers and spreading plague to everyone around them.

It's also modified with a "chimera" trigger of equine encephalitis that manifests itself in the event that a patient receives treatment for pneumonic plague. If you're one of the lucky few that manages to get treated in time, an equally horrific death awaits you.

Absolutely terrifying book. I downloaded the audiobook version and listened to it over a couple of weeks drivetime.

Yep. Pneumonic plague is treatable with antibiotics, if diagnosed early.

And if it wasn’t developed to be resistant to the antibiotics...
