Barack Obama isn't making it a secret that he is a big fan of government-controlled Artificial Intelligence.
In a closed-door meeting with top Democrats, the former president went so far as to say he would make AI the “centerpiece” of his agenda if he were running for president again.
But amid a fear-based media campaign about unregulated AI threatening to end humanity, some fascinating details have emerged that sow major doubts into the credibility of “the current scare.”
AI is a unifying issue for the left — they all fear it and want it under government control — and a divisive one for conservatives. So it’s a good issue for the Democrats.
The fact that the AI companies are suddenly all lining up to sound the alarm as well makes it seem like something in the background has them spooked. Unless we think Musk and the rest are now in on it with Obama.
I have yet to hear how AI will endanger me, unless massive surveillance is a category of AI.
If it’s things I hear or see on screens, I will over time believe less and less of them.
AI could be a blessing if it reduces our addiction to screens.
Oh yeah, it’s China China China!!!
Never mind that reasonable people aren’t too keen on the ever-growing surveillance apparatus all around us, driving the need for those ‘data’ centers. The data is YOU.
Obama and his ilk all worship at the alter of anti-Christ. AI will become its image of surveillance and complete 7x24 hour control.
They won’t ‘oppose’ it for long.

The commies in this country will not allow AI. It’s the “I” they have a problem with. try to have an AI system that regurgitates their propaganda that there are more than two sexes. Can’t happen. The datacenters will eventually house facts that can be used. Something like the internet 20 years ago.

If that sort of thing falls under AI. To me it’s not Artificial Intelligence, but rather a form of hacking.
Maybe it’s a use of AI to assist hacking.

I hope we taxpayers won’t bail out the failing AI and datacenter companies.
I view the datacenters as the non-specific progress of computer, data storage, and communication hardware. Prices of that equipment continues to fall and production continues to increase.
Throw in the low cost of sensors and you have a surveillance boom.

Is it the AI that processes data from sensors and other inputs such as credit card readers?
If it’s AI that generates/manipulates text and pictures, I’m not worried about that. There have been phony text and pictures since clay tablets.

Musk is genuinely worried about AI because he’s a materialist and therefore believes AI can become truly sentient and beyond our control. That’s the same fear that drives the lefties. The other thing driving the lefties is their need to control everyone else.
As such, I worry that Musk is setting himself up to get screwed. The left will use “regulating AI for public safety” to get control of anything with an algorithm. That means social media outlets like X.
