Great question. I remember reading the WSJ back in the day. They’d have three interesting and nonpolitical stories on the front page. One in the left column, one in the right column, and one in the middle.

I particularly enjoyed the middle column stories. They were usually quirky - fun and different.

Now as you mentioned, I might as well be reading the New York Times.

I liked the quirky stories on the front page where they had the characteristic portraits of the subject in pointillisme. That figured in Trading Places where Eddie Murphy's mug (aka Billy Ray Valentine) was shown and he was profiled favorably, LOL.

BTW that pushed Louis B. Winthorp over the edge.

The paper had a genteel and witty style that I miss. It greatly respected the reader's intelligence. It was certainly conservative. It also had no interest in appealing to XX individuals, which was greatly appealing.

Now it's all Lifetime-type stories and recipes. Plus scientific stories about how XY individuals have ruined the world.

Tremendous loss of a great American broadsheet which went the liberal, woke, senility and pandering route to its sad demise.

Exactly. The Wall Street Journal is no friend of Conservatism. They are Deep State now.

For some reason, people persist in thinking it is conservative. It isn’t. They hate Conservatives.

They just love money. And that isn’t Conservatism in and of itself.
