The Fifth Circuit has set aside Biden-era energy efficiency standards for stoves and cooktops, ruling that the Energy Department illegally refused to withdraw the rule after states raised objections requiring ordinary notice-and-comment rulemaking.
Judge Oldham accused the Biden administration of trying to “dodge” controversy, said DOE’s interpretation made a “mindless hash” of Congress’s scheme, and called its concession that CA, MA, and NY do not fairly represent the states “the understatement of the day.”
The ruling could significantly limit DOE’s use of direct final rules. The Fifth Circuit held they are for consensus regulations, must be withdrawn when objections provide a “reasonable basis,” and are not final for judicial review until DOE adheres to them.

Excellent. I’ve been wanting to put in a gas stove.
The CA mandate for “low flow” toilets just filled landfills with old toilets that were replaced with ones you have to flush twice.
This is good for Americans.
Mandating homeowners to spend 20k to upgrade perfectly working appliances is dumb.

“The Biden administration has published a rule aimed at requiring some gas and electric stoves to be more efficient — but, following immense political blowback, the requirements for gas stoves are significantly weaker than what it initially proposed.
The Energy Department said in a press release that 97 percent of gas stoves and 77 percent of electric stoves on the market already meet the requirements it is proposing.
This is down from the 50 percent of gas stoves on the market it estimated would be impacted by the rule last year.
The actual efficiency requirement for the gas stoves is also weakened, now allowing stoves that use 1.77 million British Thermal Units (BTUs) of energy per year, up from only allowing 1.204 million BTUs in its initial proposal.”
You will use about 15% less electricity than with resistance type tops.
You will have faster heat control than with gas.
It is safer as the top only warms from the heat from the pot or pan, not the burner.
There is no flame or hot burner or gas to leak and blow your house to smithereens.
We switched about 20 years ago and wish we had far before.

Good! Personally, we have an induction cook top, which I love, both for aesthetics and function. I have a portable electric oven which I can bake anything except a large turkey, and I have a nesco cooker if I did want to cook a huge turkey. But people ought to have the right to have whatever source of power they want.

Bingo! I can’t believe our country (America - the land of the free) has leaders that would want to regulate what people can use to cook based on such a flimsy “climate change” theory.
The regulation was stupid and a bow to the Climate Nazi’s. Nat Gas is the cleanest burning fuel on the planet and America has huge supplies so of course the nation killing rats want to ban it wherever possible.

That ruling really made me mad. We live in a neighborhood with a lot of trees and above ground power lines. Why get storms that fall trees across power lines. Power has been off from days to weeks. With natural gas we can cook.For liberals none of that matters, one size fits all..

In Kommie Massachusetts, Governor Healey appointed a board that ruled that the costs for a new gas hookup to a house must be paid directly by the homeowner, rather than being folded into the costs of the gas delivery provider.
10 towns in the state, including usual suspects Cambridge, Brookline, and Northampton aren’t allowing new natural gas hookups at all.
What if, for “climate” reasons, cars had to be powered by compressed natural gas in order to emit 1/3 less carbon?
Should be doing that outside over a campfire anyway.
It loses the "ambiance" indoors.
