This video covers the murder trial of Carmelo Anthony, who is accused of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet. The defense's primary argument of self-defense appears to be failing as the trial moves toward jury deliberations.
Key takeaways from the trial:
Evidence of Provocation: Multiple witnesses, including some called by the defense, have testified that Anthony initiated the confrontation by refusing to leave a school tent, challenging others, and acting aggressively (1:33-1:50, 2:16-2:29). Witnesses characterized Metcalf's physical contact as a "soft shove" in an attempt to get Anthony to leave, not an act of aggression (1:56-2:02, 8:33-8:39). Medical Testimony: Dr. Elizabeth Ventura, the chief medical examiner, confirmed that the cause of death was a homicide resulting from a fatal, non-survivable stab wound to the heart (10:51-11:13, 11:34-11:38). The medical examiner also dismissed the defense’s suggestion that Metcalf might have accidentally impaled himself, calling that scenario "one in a thousand" (12:35-12:48). Defense Strategy: The defense rested its case on Saturday after calling their own witnesses, one of whom conceded during cross-examination that Anthony was in the wrong and provoked the altercation (2:18-2:29). Carmelo Anthony did not testify in his own defense (12:56-12:59).
Next Steps: Both the prosecution and defense have rested their cases. The jury is set to begin deliberations on Tuesday, during which time they will be sequestered from the outside world (13:03-13:13).

The judge has now put manslaughter on the table so don’t be shocked if the murder charge doesn’t stick. Although Karmelo could still get 20 years for manslaughter.
I think he’s got a decent chance at a manslaughter verdict. It’s the only card he has left to play.
roll a 1D20 for savings throw vs. White Guilt.
Why redo O.J. over this? Will it be the last time this $hit happens? The MSM loves this kinda stuff and every one has to allow themselves to be played. To this day I don’t know if O.J. did it because I didn’t want to get caught up in it.
“The truth shall set ye free” only proves the truth is racist. /S
Do I hear a future Jhonie Cockran humming in the back ground.
If the knife don’t fit, you got to acquit.
I don’t see manslaughter.
From the OP:
“Evidence of Provocation: Multiple witnesses, including some called by the defense, have testified that Anthony initiated the confrontation by refusing to leave a school tent, challenging others, and acting aggressively”
“roll a 1D20 for savings throw vs. White Guilt.”
Hung jury. There will be one or two completely dimwitted women who, like the stupid females who didn’t want to send a black to prison after he assaulted them, and thence when on to kill a white man two weeks later, who will tie it up in knots, or perhaps will fear riots or for their safety.
Either way, he walks.
My kids played D&D in the early 80’s.
Were I on the jury, he’d be going away for murder.
O.J. did it
Either way he goes straight to jail.
No hung jury.
Good there are no crazy black women on the jury.
‘Good there are no crazy black women on the jury.”
You are forgetting about the crazy white women.
That and $3 will buy you a cup of coffee.
This issue is one of intent. Did he intend to kill the victim. A jury could go either way.
In DC, there’s no way Carmelo would have been charged with manslaughter. This was Murder 2.
Yep, white women will hang it for sure. I’m almost 66 and I still play DnD
I’d take the white women over black women in a case where a black boy stabbed a white boy to death.
> Although Karmelo could still get 20 years for manslaughter. <
I’ve read that the sentencing range for manslaughter in such cases is 2 to 20 years.
I think that exposes a huge flaw. A very tough judge gives 20 years. A woke, liberal judge gives 2 years.
I guess it depends on the luck of the draw (which kind of judge you get).
