California's goal of having 100% of new cars sold be electric vehicles by 2035 may be hitting a roadblock.
A new report shows a steady decline in sales over the past six months, but experts say that while electric vehicle sales have dropped, they will likely bounce back sooner than we think.
The latest report from the California New Car Dealers Association shows zero-emission vehicles made up just 13.7% of the market in the first quarter, down sharply from 21% for all of 2025 and marking the lowest share since late 2021. Total EV registrations dropped more than 40% year-over-year.

You mean the Federal government not massively subsidizing the market for EVs affects the EV market?

People that believe that myth aren’t smart enough to trace that charging cable back to power source supplying the electricity.

Commiefornia’s goal isn’t compromised in the slightest. They will still ban gas-powered vehicle sales entirely by 2035. The idea of consumer choice doesn’t concern them. And if EVs are prohibitively expensive and price people out of the market, well, that just adds to the “Zero Emission” and “15 minute ghetto” advocacy.

Typical BS from C-BS. There is no such thing, from the mining of the material from iron to cobalt and everything in between there is tremendous pollution from the mining vehicles, to shipping, to fabrication, assembly and so forth. And don't forget the NG/LNG used from the power plants, the higher electrical bills we all have as a result, the list is long. I resented the redistribution of our wealth and then piled on the national debt, this issue even surpassed my disdain for RINOs if that is even possible.
You may be entertained by this youtube I made some 14 years ago, it was rather prescient looking back at it. Youtube shadowbanned me within a few hours as it was sarcastic and humorous about the left. Kinda looks like WEF policies are collapsing on prime Democratic real estate of California. The snowballing effect exiting are landing in TN, FL & TX.
My guess is the competitors have cut back production. At one point Tesla market share fell below 50% a few years ago..

Don’t forget that it’s California, and the Left has been smearing Elon for supporting Free Speech and Trump. That was really big last year.
I have see a few bumper stickers on Tesla vehicles saying the owner hates Elon, but love their Tesla. Weird people..

I love it. Get rid of execrable subsidies that try to force behavior, freedom and satisfaction returns, and we save money!
I nearly fell to my knees in gratitude when I learned that the government is discontinuing the subsidy to automakers to put the feature in cars that shuts the engine off in traffic to ostensibly save a quarter of a thimble of gasoline!
The most hated feature in automobiles that was intended by Leftists to “save the Earth”, perhaps second only EV vehicles themselves!
