- Hungary needs to be sanctioned...because not only are they purchasing energy from Russia, but they opposed passing an EU aid package for Ukraine, "citing a long-running dispute with Ukraine over Russian oil transit."
- Meanwhile, because of our ongoing conflict with Iran, President Trump temporarily eased the actual sanctions on Russian oil for a 30-day period (no telling if that period gets extended, wink wink).
- Also, despite the fact we're ostensibly in the midst of fighting Iran, we've likewise lifted sanctions on millions of barrels worth of Iranian oil that's currently at sea.
In what universe are the above actions, as a collective, coherent in any sense of the word?
It is interesting that Russia just happened to hit the pipeline in Ukraine carrying oil to Hungary during a recent missile/drone attacks. Both Russia’s leadership and our own need to have good reasons for doing and saying things that might not work out, or even be true. There certainly seems to be a lot happening now that just does not seem to be working out as explained, or even as planned.
Just one more oddity to induce into the question, “In what universe are the above actions, as a collective, coherent in any sense of the word?
