Huge discrepancies reported in Chicago Public Schools
- There is a public school in Chicago with space for 912 kids. 28 students were enrolled. The school is 97% empty and it spends $93,000 per year per student
- The staff-to-student ratio is one-to-one, but there's not a single student that can read
- There are over 100 public schools in the state of Illinois that reportedly have zero students proficient in reading or math
- There are 20 public schools in Chicago that are basically empty
“That's not an exaggeration. Zero students are proficient in reading from that school. Just because the government spends money doesn't mean they spend it efficiently or Well, and once it's use it or lose it, they'll use it. They will spend regardless. They know it's wasted money. They just keep spending and spending frivolously and they never fix any of the problems and they just keep proliferating. It's not about the good of the students, it's about the adults. — You wouldn't make a student go to school where they're spending $93,000 per student, and there's not a single student that can read that is public unions at work. Its leftist policies failed failure.”

It’s only a problem if you think that a public school system is supposed to exist for the benefit of the students. If you think of it as a make-work program for public sector unions, the current situation makes sense.
We’ve become Africa.
You nailed it. After how the teacher’s unions in Chicago handled COVID, there cannot be any remaining doubt that they care only about themselves.
Teachers straight up demanding ‘Mo’ Money!’ and they cannot even seem to spell Governor correctly?
Nobody caught the error in layout or in the first copy proofs?
Instructors “Tubby & Tina” want to take a bite out of YOUR taxpaying wallet!
Something...😄😃😂🤣🤣🤣
It’s both hilarious AND sad
I noticed this provided no details and no sourcing.
So I sent looking.

Just like New York City.
It’s a feature..
If you read through this, down there, after all that complaining about stuff which happened years ago, is the real reason.
Many (most) of the kids left for private schools!
We in AZ have the same problem.
As alternate schooling becomes more available and the public schools are getting worse by day, the public schools are getting empty!
Now, what to do with them?
Lakewood.
🤦♂️
The president of the CTU sends her kid to a private school. Enough said.

Multi-use properties? Small grocery stores, health clinics, efficiency apartments for the low-income folks? Remote offices for Police and Public Safety organizations?
How many ghost students are enrolled?
Because I’ll bet every big district in the country is padding the enrollment numbers...
They could pay a teacher twice their current salary and have the teacher go to the student’s house to teach them one on one. No building cost, no janitors or receptionists. No buses or transportation cost. Win-win.

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Former presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden are among the big names who will be in Chicago Friday for Rev. Jesse Jackson’s funeral.
Along with the former presidents, a spokesperson for the Jackson family said former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also be in attendance at the House of Hope on the city’s Far South Side.
The homegoing service is being led by Dr. Charles Jenkins and Rev. James T. Meeks, the family said, and other notable speakers will include Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, U.S. Rep Maxine Waters, Chicago Cubs owner Tim Ricketts, Rabbi Sharon Brous and businessman Jim Reynolds.
Possible thunder storms, perhaps lightning will strike .
