PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump has indicated that the U.S. has “hit” a dock facility along a shore as he wages a pressure campaign on Venezuela, but the U.S. offered few details.
Trump initially seemed to confirm a strike in what appeared to be an impromptu radio interview Friday, and when questioned Monday by reporters about “an explosion in Venezuela,” he said the U.S. struck a facility where boats accused of carrying drugs “load up.”
“There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,” Trump said as he met in Florida with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “They load the boats up with drugs, so we hit all the boats and now we hit the area. It’s the implementation area. There’s where they implement. And that is no longer around.”
It is part of an escalating effort to target what the Trump administration says are boats smuggling drugs bound for the United States. It moves closer to shore strikes that so far have been carried out by the military in international waters in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean.

64.2 million smoked marijuana.
7.6 million people used hallucinogens.
9.1 million misused opioids.
816,000 people aged 12 or older misused prescription fentanyl or used illegally made fentanyl (IMF) in the past year, including 668,000 people who used IMF in the past year.
• However, IMF may be present without people’s knowledge in products sold as heroin or counterfeit prescription drugs that are made to look like commonly misused prescription opioids.

This is what a war on drugs should look like.
Fighting the drugs the way we had been is almost useless.
Dealing with the issues in people’s lives that leave them vulnerable to addiction is what needs to be done.

Trump actually reads the intelligence reports. And the after-action summaries.
I don’t blame Trump for offering The Ape Pee few details.
I can’t wait to hear the whining when he hits a jungle drug lab in Venezuela or Colombia. Or a meth/fentanl lab in Mexico.
We also need to work on the demand side of the equation in the US, too. Rehab facilities have become a money sink for Medicaid and Medicare dollars and usually have poor outcomes. The rehab game is badly in need of an overhaul.
