Given Nikole Hannah-Jones’s status as a celebrity big-foot at the New York Times—winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for her "1619 Project," winner of a $625,000 MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant, occupant of the Knight Chair in Race and Journalism at Howard University backed by "nearly $20 million" from the Knight Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the Ford Foundation—you might think that if she discovered a woman wrongfully convicted of murder, she’d marshal the investigative resources necessary to make a thorough case for a presidential pardon, or for legal action to dismiss or overturn the conviction.
Instead of doing that hard work, Hannah-Jones—in her first New York Times byline since September 28 (she appeared on a Times podcast in October)—is out with a brief obituary of the woman who went by the names JoAnne Deborah Byron, Assata Shakur, and Joanne Chesimard.
Hannah-Jones doesn’t come straight out and assert that her subject was innocent, yet she certainly leaves readers with plenty of doubt. She writes, "In 1977, an all-white jury found her guilty of murdering a New Jersey state trooper who died in a shootout after a car that Shakur and her colleagues were riding in was stopped by the police. Officers later claimed Shakur fired the first shot. Shakur, who was shot twice, said her hands were in the air and she didn’t shoot anyone."

What a fraud. She is however a very successful race hustler.
Merry Christmas!
Joann Chesimard was guilty as SIN! She was a dedicated little marxist tool, so of course this lump of $hit mourns her,.
It looks like somebody took a Nikole and forgot to flush. That ticks me off.
I’d like to think that these 1619 grifters like Hannah-Jones have had their gravy train dry up with the “culture change” that Trump ushered in but I suspect that there still are a lot of foundations who are willing to pay to listen to her BS either out of inertia or some enduring commitment to self-flagellation.
Race hustler whose teachings are now in schools and they pushed so much where Civil War must be removed to appease them in a Maoist teaching.
I’ve been reading the Biography Of Vaca, the shipwrecked Spanish explorer who first saw a lot of the SW and Florida in the 1500s.
He talks of an Indian tribe who when drinking a certain fermented liquid would beat their women senseless if they made the slightest sound or disturbance. What an enlightened and woke people🤮.
My point is the USA ( and colonies before that) IS AND WAS a very free society with liberal rights. Compared to other peoples almost everywhere who did things like that routinely and worse.
She had to go back to 1977 for this...
Hilarious that so many pander to this crap like it has merit.
The 1619 project has been thoroughly debunked. All that other bs is just that: BS.
The guilt-ridden, self-loathing leftist feel so warm and fuzzy when they contribute to farcical fantasies like this…woman.
Wake up, people. Stop supporting grifters and haters.
BUMP
Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are aging out of the lucrative race hustling business.
Nikole Hannah-Jones is the latest incarnation, picking up where her predecessors left off - lauded and applauded by the media, talk show circuit and lefty awards organizations.
As for her 1619 Project which claimed the American Revolution was fought to “preserve slavery:”
“Nikole Hannah-Jones, the project’s creator, reportedly ignored warnings from the New York Times’ own fact-checker, a historian of the American founding, who advised her to revise her claims about the Revolution’s relationship to slavery.”
1619 is still used in schools all across the United States.
Sadly.
This fight is far from over.
When conservatives turn out in sufficient numbers during schoolboard election to replace the members. It will begin to be over!
That will be the most important thing.
However we have all known about the schools being used to promote pro-government propaganda for generations.
If there wasn’t a conservative takeover of the schools in the 170s, 1980s, 90s, 2000s, 10s, and now we are in the 20s.....
I don’t know what it is going to take to get people to defend their own children if so far they have refused to do so.
Without people willing to stand, The 1619 Project will need to be outright dismantled and that has not yet happened, there have only been some debunks issued. Some nominal debunks are insufficient.
The problem in my state and I think in most states is the school board elections are on an off-off-year basis. Not at midterms or the general but some other time. Ostensibly this is to remove partisanship. It’s usually mandated in the state constitutions*. Of course it doesn’t remove partisanship its already snuck in through the back door! The teachers union & educrat enablers make sure they turn out to vote and the ballot is dominated by educrat\union blessed candidates. It’s hard to get sufficient turn out for the “real” elections let alone these. As we should know turn out is key!
* Some state constitutions are so keen on separating out education from “politics” they make it hard for the state legislature to monitor spending. The “educrat” establishment says- ‘Here’s the bill state legislature pay it! Remember it’s for the children!’.
Que Booker T Washington.
Yeah, the handouts have mostly stopped especially since most of it was tied to government taxpayer money.
