An illegal immigrant previously charged with DUIs and had an outstanding 2023 deportation has been charged in connection with a deadly head-on collision that killed an 8-year-old California girl over the weekend, authorities said.
Bryan Josue Alva-Rodriguez, 25, a Guatemalan citizen, was arraigned in the hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries, Wednesday on murder, vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges, according to California Highway Patrol.

In 2020, President Biden stated that he did not consider drunk driving (DWI/DUI) a felony that would justify an ICE agent arresting someone, in the context of setting immigration enforcement priorities. He has not stated that a DWI is not a bar to citizenship; rather, a single DUI generally is not an automatic dis-qualifier for immigration benefits, but can still impact an application.

Same thing happened in my area a few months back. Broad daylight, noon on a Saturday, drunk Guatemalan with prior DUIs crossed the centerline and killed a much admired woman.

I have once in a while heard stories of a large number of vehicle crashes in various states that involve people who 1) are uninsured and 2) are also not in the US legally but are driving.
That stupid idea of giving them driver’s licenses so they could “get a job involving driving and deliveries” results in danger to us all. Along with using it to confidently go to vote with that ID.
Deporting him won’t work. He’ll just return. It’s gonna have to be prison time.

Got some bad drivers here in Japan just like anywhere else but they very , very rarely drive a motor vehicle after having even one beer .

Now who is going to cover this guys medical bill? Medical bills of the people he injured? To quote Bathhouse Barry; “I don’t have all the facts, but....” I’m willing to go out on a limb and say he didn’t comprehensive insurance on the truck he was driving.
This is a huge huge problem in California and elsewhere - illegals causing fatal traffic accidents - wrong way (can’t read English) too inexperienced or drunk.
Week after Week - some of these illegals have DLs that have been issued by California and Oregon.
Newsom will take this nation wide if he is elected POTUS in 2028 - he’ll open the borders too - wide open to “reverse Trump’s racist border closing.”
