Santa Barbara’s longtime Milpas Street Holiday Parade will not take place this year after organizers said many Eastside families and participants expressed fear about attending a large public event due to concerns of potential immigration-enforcement activity in the region.
The Santa Barbara Eastside Society announced the decision Tuesday, saying it came “after many weeks of listening” to families, volunteers, local leaders and immigrant-rights partners who described a heightened sense of vulnerability.

They want to Cancel Christmas anyway
Boo hoo hoo.
Christmas markets around the world are being canceled because of active murderous jihadist intent not merely the enforcement of the rule of law.
In other words, all of the people $$-benefiting-$$ from the illegal trespassers and invaders.
Christmas markets around the world are being canceled because of active murderous jihadist intent not merely the enforcement of the rule of law.
Not in Poland.
If muslims want Christmas canceled there goes all that money and the muslims will have to work because there will be no money for their welfare
Canceled the party because the heat may show up.
I would feel safer attending a parade in Santa Barbara, California than one in Stockton California.
They don’t want any hassles with the fuzz.
awwwww aint that a darn shame..here’s an idea, perhaps just perhaps they should NOT have come here illegally in the first place then they would have NOTHING to worry about
Paging ICE: “City of Santa Barbara announces city is full of illegal aliens!”
Sounds like an excuse rather than a reason .... probably didn’t come up with the funds and volunteers to throw the parade.
I just got back from the parade in Bartlett, TN.
About 90%+ of the people there are Black or White Americans.
So maybe if you have a place where people follow the law you wouldn’t have the kind of problem you see in Santa Barbara (or Christmas markets in Europe).
Is is a bizarre America when a city runs an event that they cancel if they think the event will expose criminals to law enforcement and arrest and jeopardize their hiding out.
Just announce that Federal enforcement is NOT going to that city and announce that illegals, gang members, rapists will be safe in that city.
And just how many illegals are there in Santa Barbara??
“just how many illegals are there in Santa Barbara?”
Lots and lots of rich lawns to mow, gardens to tend, and houses to clean.
“And just how many illegals are there in Santa Barbara??”
I would expect a lot, considering all the rich liberals there wanting cheap labor. Several families in one house, living in the garage, etc.
The larger-scale Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade (a nighttime event along State Street that once attracted up to 100,000 attendees with major marching bands, celebrity appearances, and elaborate floats) was discontinued several years ago and was replaced by distributed smaller events.
Today, Santa Barbara's most prominent Christmas parade is the Santa Barbara Parade of Lights, a waterfront spectacle held annually on December 14 (the 39th edition in 2025). It includes a human-powered parade (kayaks and paddleboards), a Winter Wonderland with 10 tons of snow and Santa visits, and an illuminated boat parade of about 30 decorated vessels along the harbor from Leadbetter Beach to Stearns Wharf, ending with fireworks—making it the city's signature holiday event with broad appeal and high visibility.
