Gov. Kathy Hochul is getting ripped over a cringe Lunar New Year video she shot at the request of an alleged Chinese agent, with rival Rep. Elise Stefanik blasting the Democrat as “compromised.”
Hochul shot the awkward clip for China’s New York consulate back in 2021 when she was still lieutenant governor as she wished viewers “xin nian kuai le” — or Happy New Year, the newly resurfaced footage shows.
“Footage HERE of the video Kathy Hochul so ‘obediently’ filmed for the Chinese Communist Party after her Chinese Communist spy coaxed her into it,” Stefanik posted on X on Thursday as she shared the video.
“This is her same Chinese spy and top former aide who’s on trial for doing favors on behalf of Chinese officials in exchange for millions of dollars.”
“Kathy is compromised,” Stefanik added.
The two-minute video, which is featured on the Chinese Consul’s YouTube page, was dredged up as Hochul’s former aide, Linda Sun, faced Brooklyn federal court on Thursday on charges she sold influence to China.
The clip was referenced in court as prosecutors argued the accused Beijing mole once bragged Hochul was “much more obedient” than then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo — as she took credit for coaxing her to film the message.
“She is much more obedient than the governor,” Sun allegedly wrote to China consular official Lihua Li in a Jan. 25, 2021, message.
The Chinese officials had asked initially for Cuomo to film the Lunar New Year video, but Sun allegedly suggested she was more likely to get Hochul to participate instead.
“Can you share with me some talking points of things you want her to mention? I can make sure to include it in her remarks,” Sun wrote in the messages shown to jurors.

That sounds embarrassing based on what we now know about that Aide, but in context, not all that serious or lethal.
Hochul was observing the New Year for someone she only knew to be a Political Aide. Basic protocol and diplomacy for a constituent.
It’s not as though Kathy sang the official Chinese national anthem ‘March of the Volunteers”, with hand over heart.

I thank God on a daily basis for president Trump, but I fear once he’s gone, the race to the bottom will pick up speed.

He can’t be wheedled or cajoled by stupid aides, lackeys or shysters to do things that they claim make him more “relatable.” These often backfire
Trump doesn’t eat in public, he doesn’t wear silly ethnic costumes, he always wears a suit (except when he’s on his own golf-course), he strictly controls where he meets people, he doesn’t suck-up to foreigners he doesn’t know, he doesn’t ride bikes, he doesn’t try to speak a foreign language he doesn’t know, he doesn’t do acts with animals or children (and old Broadway rule). etc. etc.
No doubt some idiot or paid-off lobbyist convinced the fool Hochul “you need to pretend to speak Chinese with these unknown Chinese” to appeal to the Chinatown vote. Its so childish.

I know, the usual comeback is the election was stolen. That may or may not be the case, but the largest concentration of voters in NY voted for a antisemite communist for mayor. It’s not a stretch to imagine they prefer Hochul to ANY Republican. You’re in the minority, just as I’m a minority in the blue part of Ohio. Not liking the result doesn’t change it.
