A Newsom Nihilist Nomination?
American Greatness ^ | 4 Dec, 2025 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 12/04/2025 5:59:39 AM PST by MtnClimber

Newsom readies a presidential run while presiding over a state buckling under sky-high costs, mass exodus, and crumbling basics—leaving little to brag about beyond attacking Trump.

As California Governor Gavin Newsom gears up to run for president, what in the world will he run on?

Californians know that Newsom will not boast, “I will do for America what I have done to California!”

Why not?

Count the reasons.

California’s astronomical gas prices and taxes remain the highest in the continental U.S.

Ditto the state’s trifecta of the highest electricity rates, the costliest home prices, and the fourth-highest home insurance costs.

California has the largest unfunded liability debt in the nation, approaching $270 billion.

The budget deficit each year usually ranges from $15 to $70 billion.

Such profligate spending and deficits explain why the state also has the highest income taxes and state sales tax rates in the nation.

Just 1% of California households pay 50% of the state income tax. And the fleeced are leaving in droves.

Newsom recently boasted that he extended Medi-Cal health insurance to thousands more illegal aliens.

So, no wonder Newsom next begged for a nearly $3 billion Medi-Cal federal bailout.

Half of the state’s 41 million residents are now on Medi-Cal. Some 50 percent of all births are Medi-Cal-provided—and growing.

California has a lot of other firsts among the 50 states:

The largest population of illegal aliens.

The largest number of homeless people.

The largest number of people fleeing a state.

The largest number (11 million) and percentage (27%) of foreign-born residents.

The largest number of people living in poverty.

It’s beyond belief that anyone could even vote for him.

(California's annual budget deficit) The budget deficit each year usually ranges from $15 to $70 billion.

America used to have annual deficits that size. Cali has to catch up. I'm sure they can do it.

A chilling closing in VDH's article:

Newsom will lecture on “affordability” without mentioning that he has created the most unaffordable state in the nation.
Will all this gobbledygook work?
It did in New York.
So, who knows?

That's scary. Of course, there may be tons of voter fraud involved in CA and NY. So we may not be soon dealing with dumb masses voting Newsome for prez. It may come down to if the Republicans have done a good job in other states at reducing voter fraud.

Exactly. How could anyone vote for Greasy Nuisance hand his hand gestures? It’s got to be rigged.

The GOP have plenty of ammunition on this idiot - Gavin Newsom.

Will they use it?

— Train to Nowhere: “As of August 2025, $13.8 billion had been spent on the project” - since 2008, and not a single train is running.

— Gas at ≈ $5.00/gallon in the state, national average (including California) is $2.99/gallon.

— Taxes: “The state’s top personal income tax rate reaches 13.3%, the highest in the nation, which includes a 1% surcharge for mental health programs on income over $1 million.

— Highest state gasoline tax at 57.9 cents per gallon.

— Statewide sales tax rate of 7.25% is the highest in the country.

—California’s corporate income tax rate is 8.84%, the highest in the Western United States.

— California has the highest rate of unsheltered homelessness in the United States.

—California has the highest number of welfare recipients in the United States...California also leads in overall public welfare expenditures.

He will bring this nationwide.

The taxes in Calif. are unaffordable, especially for what a net positive taxpayer gets in return.

One major difference: the people of GA warned everyone what a lousy governor Carter was. No one would listen. Now, the entire country knows that Newsom stinks on ice. What will become of this? Are there enough idiots here to elect that fop? I have little doubt that the cheat machine wants the likes of Newsome.
