Oregon may be the most liberal, or progressive, or let's face it, socialist state in the United States. Despite having suffered all that comes with leftist governance: Crime, a moribund economy, and so on, enough Oregon voters keep voting for the far left to keep it that way.
Inside Oregon lies Portland, nestled in there like a rotten red pearl inside a dead, decaying oyster. Portland is, even by Oregon standards, a bastion of the absolute nutcase left.
A column at the New York Post by Fox Business's Senior Correspondent Charles Gasparino draws some interesting comparisons between Portland and New York, which, under the administration of the new communist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is almost certainly headed down the same dark path.
If the travails of a certain Left Coast city are any guide, Zohran Mamdani’s plan to paint New York red is not only bound to fail but also to alienate voters once they get a real taste of his socialist “utopia.”
The mayor-elect wants to hand out everything from frozen rents and free buses to subsidized trans surgeries even for kids. He wants the so-called 1% of wealthy New Yorkers who already pay for most of the freebies to pay even more to foot the bill.
That message won him the mayoralty, but what he left out of his pitch is what happens next. Just how much do people really like progressive government, and what happens to local economies and standards of living when lefty pols go there?
A good part of Mamdani's agenda, of course, just isn't possible. He can't just wave his hand and provide "free" buses; on the other hand, he doesn't seem to even understand that these buses would have to be paid for by someone, somewhere. Oh, he talks big about the "rich paying their fair share," but in New York and elsewhere, the "rich," meaning anyone who has a penny more than he does, are already paying far more than their fair share, and in most places, they aren't getting their money's worth in return. No, the "rich" will be making for the exits, leaving nobody to tax to pay for Mamdani's wish list.
My guess is, sadly, "Not any time soon." The people with any inclinations to have voted for anyone who is not a creature of the far left have already headed for greener pastures, in Florida, Texas, or Tennessee. That exodus will continue, and the remaining people will still be the few urban elites wealthy enough to afford to live in a socialist utopia, and the dependency class who will keep right on voting for whoever promises them the most free Schiff.
This can only end in collapse. The civil authorities will give up. Law enforcement will abandon their posts en masse. Businesses will close their doors and bail, no matter how much the local politicians rant and rave. You can already see the beginning of this meltdown. The end? Portland will descend into chaos.
Portland is nearing the end of this doom cycle. Watch now, as Zohran Mamdani's New York rushes to join it.
If only McCarthy had been listened to. Idiot Eisenhower.
Portland is a little old city. It exists in a liberal oasis compared to NYC
NYC is different from other cities in many ways. In this particular way, NYC will not be the same as Portland
Take a look at the blue V red map of 2016, 2020 then 2024
Surrounding NYC you se increasing redness in the counties. The people who live in those counties commute to NYC. They’re the B&T. The Bridge and Tunnel people. They deal with NYC. They occupy NYC during the day. They do not vote in NYC. They are not going to be putting up with the nonsense that people in Portland put up with, at least to a certain degree
We will see what happens, but I keep that in mind
There is a big town on the northernmost line of the LIRR. There has been a gigantic Trump flag on top of one of the tallest buildings since 2015
🚨ANTIFA HAS BEEN DISMANTLED IN PORTLAND
After 140 days of controlling and camping on this street in Portland, ANTIFA has officially been cleared out as the police FINALLY stepped in and cleared the encampment.

Nah, nobody sings if you can make it in Oregon you can make it anywhere.
There’s a reason.
New York is bigger.
>enough Oregon voters keep voting for the far left to keep it that way.
No mention of massive mail in voter fraud perhaps being a factor.
Same legitimate theater, recording studios, book publishers, giant museums for art and topics such as natural history, symphony halls, ballet, TV studios, New Years Eve celebrations and subways and elevated train commuter systems. With a 35,000 officer police force. 2024 tourist visits of 64.5 million visitors, with 51.6 million domestic and 12.9 million international to NYC.
Otherwise Oregon and New York City are different.
Wait until Hans Gruber Mandami’s braindead New Yawkers find out that SOCIALISM ISN’T FREE EITHER.
There may be red passion in those counties outside of NYC, but not enough votes to overwhelm them politically.
This is the case of Portland vs the rest of Oregon and Seattle vs the rest of Washington.
“ There may be red passion in those counties outside of NYC, but not enough votes to overwhelm them politically.”
?
They’re red.
massive mail in voter fraud
________________
Oregon used to be purple, moderate Republican state with lots of conservatives in countryside.
Huge turn to left coincides with the implementation of mail in vote!
Just coincidence?
“...may...” ????
Basement woke young idiots living with mommy and daddy, white liberal guilt ridden moms, those ghetto dwellers with their hands out and the entire Muslim population in Brooklyn and the Bronx along with illegals if all sorts voted for this creep. The toilet over flows and there is no one to flush it
“No, the “rich” will be making for the exits, leaving nobody to tax to pay for Mamdani’s wish list.“
Do people from Westchester, Long Island and NJ work and earn MONEY in NYC? He’ll want his cut…
And Chicago/Springfield vs the rest of Illinois. Just too many stupid voters in the big cities.
Say that again.
Say that again.
McCarthy was a prophet without honor, and Eisenhower helped destroy him.
McCarthy shouldn’t have gone after the Army. Not saying he was wrong, but in the end, it was counter-productive, and did more harm than good.
