The Democrats are sure to blame the shutdown for this and put it on President Trump.

The L1011 was a great long haul cargo bird. Many still in service.

There’s a video supposedly showing it on fire at takeoff??Looks to be in the center engine. Maybe a compressor stall??

I saw it flip over. This is bad. It looks like the port wing was on fire.

Per UPS, there were three crewmembers on board.

I am surprised no one has used the Chinese metaphors.I hope that is because FReepers still show a little class at times like this.

I'm backing off on the compressor stall theory. The flames are too sustained. Now looks like a catastrophic centerline engine fire.
In the L-1011 the engine is embedded in the rear fuselage in the tail empennage.

Beshear is on his way to the scene.
That’ll help.

That's not yucks or giggles. I've been a pilot since 1978. The state of commercial and private aviation since the early 2000's has been really bad. Not one trip I've flown in the past few years has not had some terrible ATC communications and spacing issues, both on ground control-clearance delivery, and in the air.
We are retired now, and will fly mostly at night, late. The controllers are much more relaxed and the airspace is much less congested. It's also a lot easier to make out traffic in the dark. That applies to planes on the ground, taxiing as well. The air is much less bumpy and turbulent.
I only fly parts 91 and 135 now due to a pacemaker and have a reduced class medical. My wife has time in type and can take the yoke.

The L-1011 was a predecessor of the MD11. No they are two different airplanes, similar tri-jet configuration. Lockheed made the L-1011, McDonnell Douglas made the DC-10 and MD-11.

Looks to be south along Knopp Ave. light industrial and truck parking in that area. The people working in those buildings or on the street never knew what hit them.
