The BBC has been accused of selectively editing a Donald Trump speech to make it appear clearer that he encouraged the US Capitol attack, according to a former external adviser to the corporation.
An edition of Panorama, broadcast a week before the US election, spliced together clips of a Trump speech made on 6 January 2021. The spliced clip suggested that Trump told the crowd: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be there with you, and we fight. We fight like hell.”
The words were taken from sections of his speech almost an hour apart. It did not include a section in which Trump said he wanted supporters “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”.
Concerns about the cut were raised in a memo by Michael Prescott, a former independent external adviser to the BBC’s editorial guidelines and standards committee (EGSC). He left the role in the summer.
The dossier, first reported by the Telegraph, said the programme made Trump “‘say’ things [he] never actually said” by cutting together footage.
The complaints relate to an hour-long Panorama special called Trump: A Second Chance? broadcast in October 2024. The memo also complained that footage of marchers who appeared to have been inspired by Trump was actually taken before the speech had been made.
In a covering letter to the dossier, which he sent to the BBC’s board, Prescott reportedly said he was circulating the document out of “despair at inaction by the BBC executive when issues come to light”.

Huge, huge lawsuit. If they didn’t learn from CBS and ABC, it’s their problem.
So The Guadian says “BBC Accused”. So a publication that’s not unashamedly Maoist would have said “firm proof that BBC deceptively edited Trump’s remarks...”
Guardian is trash.
Trump needs to kick the BBC out of the press pool.
yeah, maybe a billion dollar lawsuit will give the BBC pause in fabricating “news” ...
Oops. I wonder what the statute of limitations is. The don’t have New York Times v Sullivan in the UK
They lied. Surprise surprise. When will people get tired of being lied to, or do they enjoy it instead?
“When will people get tired of being lied to, or do they enjoy it instead?”
worse: how many are so ignorant that they have no idea that they are being lied to?
For many, as long as it’s what they want to hear, it’s the truth. “Their” truth.
Bingo, they have no objectivity, are unprofessional and produce propaganda. They might as well be out on the street throwing rocks.
Accountability must to be restored across a broad spectrum of institutions.
AND SUE THEM FOR DECEPTIVE EDITING
ABOUT $50 BILLION MIGHT GET THEIR ATTENTION.
OP-ED from Michael Savage, the talk-show host?
My recollection of that day was Trump saying, “Let’s all walk over to the Capitol.”
And my immediate thought was, “What the F**k is he thinking?”
The BBC is a TDS-terrorist propaganda cabal.
He needs to call in the ambassador for the UK and have him explain why the official broadcasting company of our supposed ally posted this propaganda.
Yeah, what Trump actually said was a pretty good paraphrase of our First Amendment. People from our own government have tried to prosecute him for uttering such words. At least the BBC does not have prosecutorial powers.
Even if he sues, British courts are rigged and full of TDS judges...
Better to crush BBC, by pulling all US visas for any BBC staff, all of them...it would be a death blow to BBC, and force them to cover everything but US, which would crush ratings.
Marco can list BBC on as many. Naughty lists as we have.
Go full tilt on BBC, until they crack, and fire all responsible for airing the lies.
I’m sure others have great ideas to get justice on this matter.
INSANE: BBC Panorama *edited footage* of Trump's speech to make it look like he encouraged the Capitol Hill riot.
The Trump hating leftists at the BBC broadcast the programme a week before the US election.
