Want to stop it? Canester rounds.
Gotta be careful there. It’s way more likely that the British government would fire canister rounds at these “troublemakers” instead.

The UK was lost the moment they gave up all rights to self-defense. From what I can tell, this started in the 1980s. Perhaps a UK Freeper can clarify this.
In the Sherlock Holmes stories, both Holmes and Watson sometimes carried revolvers. Since Arthur Conan Doyle included that in his stories, it must have been common in the UK at one time.
Anyway, I admire the folks in the picture for getting out and waving the flag. But their options to affect change are very limited.
Gun ownership was curtailed after a couple of mass-shootings here in the UK: at Hungerford in the 1980s and Dunblane in the 1990s. The loonies always spoil it for the rest of us.
Carrying revolvers was never common. Although there was once no restriction on persons of good standing keeping weapons at home, nor country people for hunting/wildfowling, no one really felt the need. Even criminals usually avoided them, because to use one almost inevitably ended with a trip to the gallows.
On the very rare occasions when they were required, I think people brought them out from their home - such as the Tottenham Outrage of 1909, when two armed anarchists went on the rampage.
