When WNBA Pay Rises, Will the Revenue Follow?
PJ Media ^ | 21 Oct 2025 | David Manney

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver believes WNBA players “deserve” a big pay increase in their next collective bargaining agreement.

While speaking of progress, equality, and recognition, the words were uttered with confidence, maybe even pride; these are all noble ideas. Yet sports, much like life, have a single, unflinching referee: the market.

The current salary cap for the WNBA is a wee bit over $1.5 million per team, with around $250,000 allocated to the top players, and Silver said those numbers should substantially rise.

Yet for all the talk of "deserve," the league is still dependent on the NBA's financial umbrella to stay open; it's nothing cruel, just basic math. Sentiments can't rewrite balance sheets.

LOL! If Adam Silver truly believes that let him pay them.

Well...how were the ratings in the recent playoffs, WITHOUT Caitlyn or Sophie Cunningham?

Remove the salary cap and let the market decide.

I can solve the WNBA‘s viewership problem in a day. But no one will listen to me.

Have them all play in bikinis, just like the ladies in beach volleyball.

Simple, eh?

It’ll be like the United Nations... All the funding will come from the United States Government.

Have you seen some of these “ladies”? I’d pay more if they wore parkas.

The few “highlights” I’ve seen are boring.....Its bad enough they don’t make all the calls in the MENS league as far as palming/traveling/double dribble/3 second lane violations etc... they have dumbeed down the mens already and these arrogant broads are 100 times worse. I hope it collapses and a lot of people lose their shirt in a money sense. Most of the females are ugly also.......The general public watches Tennis and thats about it as far as any real interest in Female sport.

Nope.

Women dont want to watch, and neither do men.

They will never turn a profit as things are.

Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham were stars in the league last year. But that is not the direction they are heading in.

They would rather remain a mediocre league. Status quo.

ESPN has been pushing this joke of a league filled with bitter harpy hoodrats for a long time and the needle hasn’t moved a bit, nor will it ever.

Fair or not, Caitlyn Clark brought attention and new money to the league. In response, it became open season on her and it was obvious that more than a few other players were unashamedly trying to injure her, which they accomplished. Ticket sales tanked shortly thereafter.

Sigh.

I remember this:

Since then, I have grown to dislike Bush, and I didn't know what a snake in the grass he was with illegal immigration.

The only way I can live with it is by reminding myself if I hadn't voted for Bush, it could have been Gore, or even Kerry. I would still pull that lever.

I still remember how nice those female Beach Volleyball players looked in the Olympics...:)

Caitlin Clark should "retire" from the WNBA.

They will not let her play in the league.

So she's being "blackballed".
