President Trump said Saturday he would use his authority as commander in chief to pay military troops despite the government shutdown that has furloughed federal employees.
Trump blasted Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and noted that if the government isn’t reopened by Oct. 15th, the nation’s warriors and Pentagon employees would miss paychecks.
“That is why I am using my authority, as Commander in Chief, to direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to get our Troops PAID on October 15th,” Trump posted on his Truth Social site. “We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS.”
He did not provide specifics on the funding mechanism. A Senate Democratic amendment that would have paid active duty military failed to make it through the Senate Friday.

So wonderful to have a Commander in Chief who actually cares about our troops and their families.
“...Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and noted that if the government isn’t reopened by Oct. 15th, the nation’s warriors and Pentagon employees would miss paychecks...”
That’s a lie. Military members are not paid for what they did. The are paid for what they will do. Meaning the members are paid in advance to do work. So they will not go into a past due until 30 November because they were paid through October already and will not be able to complain until they are not receiving for what they have done...i.e. past due.

As it SHOULD be. Well done, Mr. President.
As an FYI, google says the mean salary is $52K for servicemen. Doing some math, that’s a bit less than 2.5 billion per payday. So the 8 billion is good for probably 3 paydays.
