SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A Georgia man accused of tearing down a pro-Trump banner at a rafting business before exchanging gunfire with the business owner has been extradited to Swain County.

Benjamin Michael Campbell, of Atlanta, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear, and willful and wanton injury to personal property in connection with the Sept. 6 incident.

Deputies were dispatched to the Paddle Inn Rafting Company for reports of shots fired, but the suspect’s vehicle was no longer at the scene. Days later, investigators became aware of a video of the altercation that had been published on YouTube.

Mark Thomas, the owner of the Paddle Inn Rafting Company, told News 13 he was watching his CCTV cameras when he saw the driver of a Jeep slam on the brakes, exit the vehicle, walk across the road, and tear down a Donald Trump banner. Thomas said he took his rifle to his porch and fired two shots into the air. In response, he said, the man in the Jeep fired back several rounds from the road.

This man-child is 40 years old.

As part of his sentencing, he needs to be required to get a GED while in prison as part of his growing up.

He also needs to lose his license after he gets out, and not just because he used his vehicle in the commission of a crime, but because children aren't allowed to drive.

Regardless, firing two shots into the air is also stupid and irresponsible.
If you must fire a signal shot fire into sod or similar.

“ Thomas said he took his rifle to his porch and fired two shots into the air. ”

Could be an error. The gun charges will likely be dismissed because of this.

He should be forced to publically read The Art of the Deal. Out loud. In a courtroom.
