Colorful biotech tycoon found guilty of ordering execution of old business foe who planned to sink huge deal

The biotech tycoon found guilty of orchestrating the cold-blooded execution of a former business partner was revealed to be a failed magician who bought a fake medical degree from a Russian university.

In his most bombastic illusion, Serhat Gumrukcu, who once performed under the stage name Dr. No, managed to dupe Hollywood elites, biotech investors, and even US regulators into believing he had discovered a cure for HIV.

But behind the smoke and mirrors, federal prosecutors say Gumrukcu, 42, the eccentric Turkish-born founder of Enochian BioSciences, was nothing more than a con artist with a mansion in the Hollywood Hills, a trail of fraudulent business deals, and a deadly secret.

Gumrukcu paid for a hitman to murder Gregory Davis, a former associate threatening to expose his lies and derail a multimillion-dollar merger.

Davis, 49, a father of six from Danville, Vermont, was lured from his house in January 2018 by a hired assassin posing as a US Marshal.

He was shot multiple times, and dumped in a snowbank just miles from where his wife, pregnant with their seventh child, and children waited for him to return.

Following a five-week trial and damning testimony from his co-conspirators, Gumrukcu was convicted of murder-for-hire, conspiracy, and wire fraud by a Vermont jury.

He faces a mandatory life sentence in federal prison when he returns to court for sentencing in November.

The murder, authorities say, was as calculated as it was chilling - bankrolled and masterminded by a man whose genius was eclipsed only by his greed.

Before he styled himself as a biotech visionary, Gumrukcu dazzled audiences in Turkey under the stage name 'Dr. No,' performing levitation tricks and dancing with a cane.

If hollywood could think up storylines like this they would suck way less.

So we have this guy and the former superintendent of Des Moines schools in the last few days. How many more are getting rich by just faking everything?

I believe that all of the mysterious Clinton deaths were because the people who died tried to monetize their knowledge. If Davis had simply gone to the FBI, he’d have been fine. Probably, he wanted a cut which is why he didn’t go to the authorities. Amazing the authors didn’t address this glaring issue.

Another question is, where is the murderer sitting now? Because if he’s out on bail, he’s gone. Someone with money and connections does not sit around when he can still live high off the hog in some middle eastern country with no extradition. Again, nobody addressed the issue of where he was at the moment.

I aske AI where he was.

Where is Serhat Gumrukcu now?

Following his April 2025 conviction for murder-for-hire, Serhat Gumrukcu is currently incarcerated and awaiting his sentencing.

His formal sentencing, which is expected to result in a mandatory life sentence, has been scheduled for November 24, 2025.

Key details on Gumrukcu’s status:

He has been in custody since his arrest in May 2022.
The conviction took place after a five-week trial in Vermont.

His final sentence was postponed from its initial date.
The mandatory life sentence is the result of a “murder-for-hire conspiracy” that ended in the 2018 death of his former business partner, Gregory Davis.

The most important, compelling stories of our time can't be told by Hollywood, because of political considerations.
