I’m trying to avoid google as much as possible.

I attempted to remove AI from google searches and after doing a bit of research the answer I got was you can’t....I’m not to big on having things forced on me with no opportunity to opt out.....that fall into the category of intrusion IMO.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Have you seen the garbage that Costco has been stocking recently? It seems like Costco started getting rid of items people wanted and substituting crap that no one wants. I'm sure those are the prices being slashed.
