What's interesting is that American voters have recognized this. So by voting Trump for President in 2016, we are saying that we want to return to our roots as a constitutional republic.

Long story short, we basically became an empire in the aftermath of the second world war. Then we had to establish the "Deep State" so we could take on the Soviets during the Cold War.
