(INDIANA CAPITAL CHRONICLE) — One of Indiana’s first Republican lawmakers to declare opposition to mid-cycle redistricting is “now a rock solid HELL YES.”

Seymour Rep. Jim Lucas announced his reversal on Facebook and X just two weeks after he and his colleagues met with President Donald Trump’s administration on redistricting — and within hours of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Trump is pushing GOP-led states like Indiana to redraw maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections to ensure a Republican majority in the U.S. House for the rest of his second term. Redistricting is typically only done after the decennial census.

Indiana GOP now plans to make Indiana a 9 to ZERO state.

Let me add:

There are several states where the GOP has Open Primaries.

We owe it to Charlie Kirk to also take away the rights of Democrats to vote in GOP Primary Elections.

NO MORE GOP OPEN PRIMARIES!!!!!

Overreach can boomerang fast. The democrats’ insurance against a boomerang effect is cheating, and California has shown the way with secretive “vote curing” extending a month after election day. But most states won’t do that.

That said, a rule of reason is needed here. I DEFINITELY think congressional districts should be firmly established at least 48 hours before voting begins. Absentee voting by deployed servicemembers, college students and expats can be handled by Jedi mindmeld. /s

Exactly….one or two votes might make the difference in keeping Hakeem Jeffries from becoming Speaker of the House!
