For Putin, an outbreak of peace means certain death. Like any gangster, he has only one hope of survival

In 1990 no one predicted what was coming

It may not come first from the serfs, more likely from the oligarchs.

Regardless when the coffers run dry stuff happens

What Putin fears is the reality of total economic destruction. Russia is operating on a war time economy that has pretty much destroyed the industrial capacity that is not military.

The banking business is in tatters. Small business dependent on loans is unable to function with interest rates of 31 or 32%.

Ukraine drones are hard at work every night carefully and on pinpoint target selectively destroying or severely wrecking the very military industrial installations necessary to prosecute the war. This action is separate and distinctly different from the similar drone destruction of the Russian oil and gas capability.

All this action is taking place at long distances within Russia proper. Ukraine has shown unequivocally that much of Russia believed to be safe is in fact of mortal danger

“True. Also true that Poland could have reached an agreement with Germany in 1939, but France and Britain knocked it down.”

Germany asked Poland to join the Axis, cede Danzig, and an extraterritorial railroad across the Polish Corridor in exchange for border guarantees. Poland turned them down. The British and French guarantee came later.

Why use such terrible terminology, "serfs"? There are no serfs in Russia, just regular people like you and me, trying to live a middle-class life.

Also, the coffers are nowhere near dry. Compared to the rest of the world (and relative to their GDP), Russia has almost no debt. Currently, in Russia, life is proceeding much as if there were no war.

Whatever Putin’s faults, they’ll last only as long as Putin; but if socialism takess over, our next generations will have to fight their way free of it.

“So, Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.”

>> " The people Putin fears the most are Russian mothers wailing in the street over the death of their sons." <<

Actually, it's the Ukie grifting coward, who fears his people.
That's why he is very rarely in his own damn country. (Of course his luxury grifting tours play a big part in his habitual absence, too.
Have you talked to a grieving Ukrainian mother lately?

“especially when the Neocons weapons don’t even work”

Are those the same Neocon weapons of ours that failed during the USA destruction of the Iran nuclear weapons complexes?

Spoiler alert: the USA bombs worked, as did the USA-supplied weapons during the main part of the Israel-Iran 12-day war.

Or is there a Neocon Weapons Manufacturing Plant that only you know about?

β€œSo, Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.”
**********
Who invaded who is not the only issue for the USA. The issues for us are: (1) who is our real enemy; and (2) whether we have any stake in the outcome of this war. I don’t see Russia as our enemy — ideologically speaking, the EU and today’s NATO supporters of the Ukraine are worse than the Russians. NATO on Russia’s border now is like how we would have viewed having the Warsaw Pact on our border during its communist era.

I like this comment from the article.

Fitzwaryn, Hampstead, United States, 25 minutes ago

That goes in the bin alongside Hitler had herpes and only one testicale.

How about hiring some actual reporters who will cover actual News... oh.. maybe things like... massive protests against a Socialist government? out of control crime in the streets of London? Law Enmforcement refusing to prosecute child rapists?

You know... things that actually matter to the People of Britain.

Or I guess you can keep on spewing out garbage like this.

I'm very relieved to hear this is all over, Russia is defeated, and Slava Ukraine is being shouted by Zeepers.

No need for a peace deal then. Go ahead and fight it out until you crush them!

You had a positive view of rat-eyed KGB agent until he decided to invade? Putin is a clever compared to our idiot politicians in the mob boss sense and somehow managed to pass himself off as macho despite being a bloated little bald guy. He’s a scumbag propped up by the Russian psyop bots that patrol this forum to lure the disaffected into thinking his interests are somehow in line with rural Americans. Meanwhile he’s shipping rural Russians to the meatgrinder.

Note: This is written by Bill Browder. Massive Deep Stater from a longtime communist family who was deep into pillaging Russia in the 90s. Remember the Magnitsky Act? Also an associate of the corrupt billionaire Edward Safra.
