huge success.big progress...
red carpets were appropriate.
flyover was cool.
putin confirmed war never start if trump in office.
silly ceasefire now off the table.
i do hope the little grifter wears a suit!
keep plans out of media- no more yapping from the EU moslems.
trump needs to get the us completely uninvolved.
.
this may take a few meetings.
Hopefully Putin did offer ceasefire for Donetsk.
better yet if he offered return some territory around Sumy/Kharkov.(face saving for Z-ski)
if so Z should take it but at least reason for another meeting. Even if they have to fight another 3 or 6 months , then Z-ski will have less mouths to feed and less land to protect. Surely a win/win...

Trump Outwits EU Leaders on “Security Guarantee” Plan – No Ceasefire, Straight to Peace Agreement

August 16, 2025 | Sundance

For months the so-called coalition of the willing led by Great Britain, France and Germany, have been proposing a multinational group of peacekeepers on the ground in Ukraine – supported by U.S. military.  However, after President Trump asserted, he would not support a U.S. troop presence in Ukraine, things got sticky.

Without the U.S. military, the NATO members were not willing to put their troops into the meat grinder buffer zone between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The U.K, France and Germany continually demanded U.S. troops as protection, just in case things escalated.  This insurance approach was expanded by Ukrainian President Zelenskyy who coined the term, “security guarantee” to encapsulate the EU demand.

However, President Trump cuts the Gordian knot in the ceasefire plan,” by eliminating the ceasefire plan.”

Instead, President Trump goes directly to a peace agreement, and somehow the EU members agreed to it.  There will be no negotiation for a ceasefire, instead there will be immediate negotiations for a long-term peace agreement.

PRESIDENT TRUMP – “A great and very successful day in Alaska! The meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia went very well, as did a late-night phone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and various European Leaders, including the highly respected Secretary General of NATO. It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement, which often times do not hold up. President Zelenskyy will be coming to D.C., the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all works out, we will then schedule a meeting with President Putin. Potentially, millions of people’s lives will be saved. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” (link)

President Trump does not publicly point out the shift in plan negates the need for a ceasefire security force, but the reality is inside the unspoken change.  A very smart and strategic approach that appears to have flown under the radar.

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump has won the support of Western partners for his bid to end the war in Ukraine, with European capitals voicing their approval following his high-stakes talks with Russia’s Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Trump spoke with top EU leaders on Saturday morning after the bilateral summit on Friday appeared to end without an agreement.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also took part in the telephone conversation, alongside Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, Finland’s Alexander Stubb, Poland’s Karol Nawrocki and Italy’s Giorgia Meloni were confirmed by Brussels to have joined. A second call was then held by the European leaders without Zelenskyy and the Americans to discuss the situation.

In a statement, Zelenskyy said that he had a “long and substantive” conversation with Trump, initially one-on-one, before other leaders were invited to take part. “We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the U.S. and Russia,” he said, adding that he will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with Trump.

“As envisioned by President Trump, the next step must now be further talks including President Zelenskyy, whom he will meet soon,” the group of European countries represented on the call said in a statement. “We are also ready to work with President Trump and President Zelenskyy towards a trilateral summit with European support.” (read more)

Zelenskyy will be in Washington DC on Monday afternoon for a talk with President Trump.  In that meeting we anticipate President Trump telling Zelenskyy what the general terms of the ‘peace agreement’ will be, to include the permanent loss of territory in exchange for something we do not yet know.

Sundance is right about Trump exchanging cease fire for agreement.

But what Sundance needed to mention was Trump is all about leverage.

Trump got the leverage when he got the Euroweenies to agree to “buy” weapons from Uncle Same instead of Uncle Sam writing checks willy-nilly as Biden did.

What has also gone under reported is Trump saying after his meeting that further sanctions were off the table for the time being.

It was a bad day for the Euroweenies and good day for Putin and a better day for those of US who want to put America First by ridding ourselves of a stupid foreign entanglement rooted in centuries of history.

Trump wants an END to the bloodshed..you cant have perfection..this war has been going on long enough. Honestly Trump doesnt have to do anything, he can tell both countries, hey not my problem fight for the next 100 yrs if you want to til there is no one left, but he doesnt want to do that, he wants this war to end..now are you going to get perfection, NO of course not..but that is how life is, you take the good with the bad and if some agreement can be made(And he’s right, a cease fire is a waste of time can be broken in 2 seconds) and you can have longstanding peace and BOTH sides agree, sounds good to me..and as far as these Obama and Biden cronies coming out of the woodwork, I dont want to hear a peep out of them after Obama’s goons GAVE Crimea to Putin and Biden practically BEGGED Putin to invade Ukraine “You can have a small incursion” so I dont want to hear a peep out of those idiots they did enough damage

There has been a fundamental change in Alaska.

The people who were worshipping at the altar of Bone Breaking Sanctions and their capacity to force Putin to do this or that or this or some other that . . . they saw what they saw.

There is no inclination by Putin to be compelled by sanctions. They do appear to be powerless.

Zelensky talked for 1.5 hours with Trump? To do what? To plead the case of imposing those sanctions, despite what the entire world saw.

No one saw a sanctions beaten man. Putin shows no signs of defeat. It is not him that is demanding more debates errrrr a ceasefire. He’s winning. He knows it.

I am not among those insulting Zelensky. He’s fighting the war as best he can. He has no desire to surrender.

But there has never been anyone in all history who **wanted** to surrender. It was forced on them. As it is now.

He'll need guarantees from NATO if he's going to withdraw from the Donbass. That means he'll demand British and French "peacekeepers" in Ukraine.

Zalensky should take asylum in Switzerland and leave the keys to Ukraine on the hall table.

Trump to Zelenski. Surrender Ukraine to Russia and then kill yourself.

If you dont you are to blame for invading Russia and starting this war.

Do you have a source to cite for this claim?

I've been saying the same. He said he would when there was Peace...well...it would be saying he is at least for Peace.

He is what he is...He lied to get power and lies to keep it.

Ukrainians want Peace...the land is nothing without Peace.

If Trump puts US soldiers on the ground in Ukraine as part of some security force he will be going back on his promises of no US forces sent overseas to fight for another country. If he caves to warmonger Lindsey Graham and the other warmongers get their war you can bet your bottom dollar a Democrat will be the next president.

Not a direct quote It is a summary of Trumps actions toward Ukraine up to the time it was written.
