First responders from multiple agencies responded Thursday to the Mississippi River near Alton, Illinois, after a helicopter crashed on a barge.

Witnesses describe the chopper exploding, then falling in flames onto the barge. Luckily a towboat with firefighting capacity was nearby to put out the fire.
RIP to the crew, and prayers for their friends and families. :-(

Do helicopters crash more than planes?
They only fly because the ground rejects them.
They crash when the sky rejects them too...
Statically probably yes, since there are fewer flying than airplanes. However, you can’t do what these guys were doing out of an airplane. Dangerous flying requires a helo.
