The Corporation for Public Broadcasting said Friday it would begin winding down its operations after its funding was eliminated by the Trump administration and Congress.
The CPB is a private nonprofit that serves as a steward of funding for public media. It provides funds to public radio and television stations, including PBS and NPR. It employs about 100 people.
Both PBS and NPR, the most high-profile public media organizations, have long been the target of Republican criticism and have been preparing for the possibility of cuts since President Trump's reelection. The broadcasters receive roughly half-a-billion dollars in public funding through the CPB.

If it couldn’t survive without government funding it wasn’t much of a corporation…

“ The CPB is a private nonprofit that serves as a steward of funding for public media”
It is time to end the entire “nonprofit” scam. Let every organization pay its “fair share”. If they want to pay their family members or friends exorbitant salaries to run their organizations, fine. But not on the taxpayers dime.

weird they don’t consolidate, reorganize around their core stations, personnel and programs.

Yet another NGO whose sole purpose is to spread our tax dollars around to liberal people and causes. Axe them all.

More than 40 years ago, I was tasked to make presentations at an NPR Regional Convention. Their convention was a week in duration on Mackinac Island with a daily hotel rate of well over $100. Since I was only allowed a lodging rate of $50/night I commuted by ferry from my motel on the mainland each day. While PBS/NPR continually beg for donations..., they splurge on their expenses and always have! I was a regular donor up until that experience!
