Oh hell, you are good to go. Im 3200 feet up and might get to see the pacific coast a few miles from me some day..
Lol. I wonder if there are any flights to Bogota, Colombia.
Some sources saying that this is the biggest earthquake on the Earth in the last 14 years. This one is definitely newsworthy and out of the ordinary. I know folks who are trying to make it to higher ground on the Big Island. Last that I heard, the initial wave is supposed to make it to Hawaii at 7:15 P.M. their time—1:15 A.M. Eastern time.
Thanks for the info, crz. You’re a vast store of earthquake knowledge.
You’re in pretty good shape too. Any wave that reached 3,200 ft would also be catastrophic for the whole world.
BTW, I’m impressed that you got the movie reference. :)
if it’s shallow that means less tsunami impact yes?
Are you looking for higher ground?
I know there are flights to Denver ... but frankly Bogota might be nicer.
Denver is only at 5280’. Bogota is at 10k.
“Now i hear a cacophony of angry car horns, as well.”
That should help a lot.
The boxing day quake was 9.2
.
Take no chances eh? I think there are some higher towns in Chile or Peru.
Might not have air service though. Or roads for cars for that matter. LOL
Doc..i just watched something simply amazing.
On the live eartquake monitoring site they have the earthquake motion detection stations.
When they detect motion, they light up and flash. Two times in the last few minutes, about one minute apart HUNDREDS of them started flashing and started on the west coast and moved east to the east coast. The second wave started in the NW USA and did the same thing.
Right now, only a couple are flashing and just got an alert of a 2.4 just east of Maine.
Its an Arizona thing..the movie thing that is.
I used to belong to a gym in the basement of the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage. It was fine for a while, but then I found myself obsessing over the fact that the hotel sits pretty much right on the fault line. (San Andreas? Can’t recall.) Membership cancelled.
National Weather Service sends update to clarify there's no tsunami threat to North Dakota pic.twitter.com/OXHbRzaP9s— BNO News Live (@BNODesk) July 30, 2025
Oh, we love it in Colorado too. After all, Doc came up here and never left. I even visited him once!

Are you saying hundreds of mini quakes across the CONUS? Or the big one likely rolling across?
Dutchsinse is back up
What were the level of effects you felt?
Tsunami Alarms going off. Loud! Remind me of Tornado alarms..
