Union members who assemble Boeing's fighter jets in the St. Louis area have "overwhelmingly voted" to reject the company's contract offer on Sunday, with the company now preparing for an imminent strike.
Boeing's proposal, which was sent on Tuesday to more than 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837, included a 20% general wage increase over four years and a $5,000 ratification bonus, as well as more vacation time and sick leave.
"The proposal from Boeing Defense fell short of addressing the priorities and sacrifices of the skilled IAM Union workforce," the IAM union said.
Dan Gillian, Boeing's Air Dominance vice president, general manager and senior St. Louis Site executive said in an emailed statement that it is disappointed Boeing employees voted down "the richest contract offer we've ever presented to IAM 837 which addressed all their stated priorities."
"We've activated our contingency plan and are focused on preparing for a strike. No talks are scheduled with the union," Gillian added.

Yet another nail in the coffin that is Boeing.
This again. Its seems like we went through this a year ago.
Funny, looking at the stock price today it seems all those nails missed.
Wrong.
Greedy unions have done immense damage to our economy,,right up there with greedy stock manipulators.
“Boeing’s contract offer rejected by union members”
Eventually the union will WIN and thereby get their plant shutdown, or even do better by putting BOEING OUT OF BUSINESS.
(but don’t worry, our FR shop steward will have something to say)
The increase isnâÂÂt 20% across the board.
My friend who works at Boeing would get a 6% increase in year one, none in years 2 and 3, and a 6% increase in year 4. For a 12% increase over four years after having no raise in the last 8 years.
He said the money wasnâÂÂt the sticking point. Boeing was moving all union workers to either 4 10s or 3 12s with the 3 12s being on the weekend. Whether you were on 4 10s or 3 12s would be decided by seniority. So the union workers expected a lot of people to go from MF 8 hr shifts to working 3 12s on the weekend. The union recommended passing the agreement. It was almost unanimously voted down.
I used to get a nickel more an hour when I first started working.
