Judge Dismisses DOJ Lawsuit Over Chicago’s Sanctuary Protections for Immigrants

Unfortunately, the federal government has no power under the 10th Amendment to order state or local governments to assist with anything, But they are under no obligation to provide any form of cooperation whatsoever.

Nor can the federal government threaten the withholding of all federal funding to pressure a state or local government to do what it wants. It can withdraw or reduce funding that that is directly linked to the cooperation being withheld, but that's it.

The best recent example of this is when Obamacare tried to compel state governments to expand Medicaid, or the feds would eliminate all Medicaid funding for states that refuse to expand it. The states took it to the US Supreme Court, and won on that issue. The only thing the feds were permitted to withhold was any federal funding that would go specifically to that Medicaid expansion.

I read the decision. It is so completely irrational and stupid it could only be written by someone who went to college. It makes zero sense, has no logic, and is so dripping with bias against the constitution, laws, and Trump it shouldn’t take more than 2 minutes to throw out.
