Commiefornia Ran Fossil Fuel Companies Out of Town, Now It’s Begging for Them to Return . . . and None Are

DCNF(DCNF)—California Democrats are reportedly rushing to find a buyer for a refinery scheduled to shut down in 2026 as a potential gas crisis looms over the state, according to Reuters.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is reportedly actively seeking buyers to stop the upcoming closure of the Valero refinery in Benicia, California, according to three people familiar with the matter that spoke to Reuters. Democrat officials are now reportedly scrambling to keep the refinery operating in California after enforcing stringent regulations that have helped prompt refineries to close across the state for years.

“CEC is engaging with market players to explore pathways for the continued operation of in-state refineries,” the agency told Reuters.

CEC did not specifically confirm that it is looking for a buyer to Reuters, but did say that it is working to ensure that the refinery stays open. Valero announced its Benicia, California, refinery closure in April, and Phillips 66 refinery is also scheduled to shut down by the end of 2025.

Valero should box it up and ship it to Texas, or wherever they’re going. “It would be a shame to leave such a nice refinery behind. We would miss it.”

Let them starve. When I lived in Texas the apartment had a pump jack right in the parking lot. Cheap gas and reliable energy even during the tornado seasons. California needs to get what they vote for good and hard. A shame too. But screw ‘em.

I can’t imagine what it would take to get an oil company to buy into California given the toxic regulatory and tax environment

Lukoil might be interested. They already have some US retail outlets. https://lukoilamericas.com/en

Anyone who did business in the Soviet Union should be able to do business in California.

"It ain’t their refinery to sell. It belongs to Valero..."

That's true. But think about it. Valero is shutting it down for a reason. And it is unlikely someone will step in and buy it for a reason. Perhaps if they had people with two brain cells to rub together on the CEC they could figure it out.

California voters rank high in national stupidity. But there is a small suspicion in me that many of the people in the Assembly and Senate in California are there because of election fraud.

Well, they could make it state-owned and stay true to their cause.

There is billions of barrels of oil off the coast of California that can’t be touched because of the stupidity of their state government.

Absolutely! Valero should disassemble their refinery
and move it somewhere else that let the Valero refine
gasoline and other fuels.

Election fraud and illegal alien voting.

I can’t confirm California illegal voting but I can 100% confirm Oregon gives non citizens ballots via motor voter.

They probably have a pretty decent shale play in the Monterrey Formation. I shan’t think anyone is stupid enough to play. I believe Occidental and Chevron have already derisked it.

Kalifornians You voted for it and now you're getting it. Not a tithe of what you deserve for inflicting filth like Pelosi, Schiff, and Fartswell Swallwell, etc. on the rest of the country. Not to mention your 2020 vote for the lump of excrement that goes by the name of Biden that you helped put in charge of the executive branch for 4 years. Just plug in your battery Teslas and go.

What you say there isn't enough electricity or charging stations? Take it up with your buddies in CARB

There is no way California can lower their gasoline prices. Refineries closing down will never be reopened or new ones be built. Takes too long and that 2035 no gasoline cars law means decreasing market. The sales of gasoline have gone from about 8,000 Thousand Gallons per Day in 2000 to 4,000 Thousand Gallons per Day in 2020 for California. Does not take an MBA to see the trend of decrease consumption which means refineries need to close, not be built. The libs will get what they want, gasoline will go away, but at what cost?

i have an idea inspired by government owned and operated grocery stores: California itself should take over and operate the Valero Benicia refinery! Since it’s gonna shutdown anyway, the price should be cheap, maybe even free! ... And California could operate it on a non-profit basis, thus making refined petroleum products less expensive!

BUHWAHAHHAHAHA! JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a Sacramento area company named Interstate Oil, and they supply gasoline and propane to many retailers in the Sac/Reno area.

I can see a situation where the State contracts with a host of similar suppliers to figure out how to get affordable gas into CA.

Brent Andrews, are you listening???

Utah has five gasoline refineries, OR, NV, ID, have zero Gasoline refineries.

Newscum will probably try to sell to Canada, and have them make gas for CA.

But yeah, it would be $hitty state run boondoggle!
