Central Kentucky here, it’s been a hot last several weeks. Big Damn deal, it’s summer and a slightly extra hot summer. Thus when in doubt I always go to the San Francisco Chronicle for my science information on the weather
No need for false modesty, guys.

It's true. Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain did say it.
As a native San Franciscan, I'm used to the cold summers in SF. Back in the 1950's, families on our block would bundle up in sweaters and jackets while setting off fireworks on our block during July 4th. Not just overcast cool skies, but sometimes cold mist and drizzle made it tough to light fireworks. Cold summers in the Mission District, fog near the beach. And sometimes a hot winter in December or January. That is our normal. Abnormal was when it snowed in SF in the early 1960's, our dogs freaked out and wouldn't touch the snow. Again once in the early 1970's. Normal is no snow.
Last July this cool here in the more West part of the Hill Country was less than 10 years ago-we had an early Fall that year, too-got cool at night in early-mid September. But that Winter was mild-not a flake of snow or any icy days-go figure...
I worked acft maintenance on the ramp on nights at SFO. You didn’t dress for it and froze.
I’ve been out here in Southern California many times at this time of year (from Michigan). This is the coolest weather I’ve ever experienced in LA or Oceanside ( currently in Oceanside). It’s warmer this week at my home in Michigan.
Luv it...
The same thing happened in the LA area in ‘92. It’s nothing new ...
In WA state, we are having 85 degree days, but overcast mornings. Nightime temps are dipping into the 56-65 range. THE WORLD IS ON FIRE.
“ Roy told him that he has been everywhere and So. CA was the best year around.”
It used to be an amazing place.
Parts still are
The WORLD?
How’s the SOUTHERN hemisphere doing this winter?
“ And sometimes a hot winter in December or January”
Yes. I moved to SF in ‘73. It was such a warm and dry winter, I hiked up to the top of Yosemite Falls in January ‘75.
It’s been brutally het here in the NE.
We have the added problem of more humidity to make it worse.
The northern part of the country, from the Midwest to the northeast and the east coast.
Sorry to hear that.
One youtube weather guy is predicting a very early “Arctic Blast” for Aug or Sep extending all the way to southern TX. I hope he’s wrong, first frost is early enough where I am. Typically Sep 11th.
If this trend continues we’re going to see large areas of the country covered by snow by next January.
That’s earlier than us, but I also hope not because I can still have some crops that will come in in Sept.
I’m in New Mexico and while we’re still having a hot summer it’s nowhere near what we’ve had for the last 2 years. Weather patterns change and I’ve lived through many of them. This year our monsoons have come and they haven’t for maybe 10 years.
I’m at 7,600 ft in the mountains so it’s a challenge to bring in any veggies that take two months and warm nights to mature.
Last frost has been June 11th the last couple of years but thankfully not this year.
Last year I got extremely lucky with the first frost. Or frosts as it were. Had 3 nights in Sep. that hit 32 or 31 but were so brief nothing was harmed. Amazing since squash and lettuce and tomatoes won’t tolerate much at all.
Finally got the real thing Oct. 1st. Longest fall season I’ve ever seen.
That’s good to hear.
