Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) vowed that President Trump’s threats to primary him will “backfire tremendously” and ultimately lead to Republicans losing their House majority in the 2026 midterms.
“Well, they’ve spent $1.8 million against me so far in my congressional district. I think it has had very little effect, but they are trying to beat up on me to keep everyone else in line here and I think it is not working. I think what’s going to happen, this will be a referendum on whether the executive branch controls the legislative branch,” Massie said during a Tuesday interview with NBC News.
“I am going to prevail. What they are going to find out is it will embolden members of Congress here to go with their heart, with their minds, with their constituents and not just toe the party line,” Massie told NBC’s Sahil Kapur.
Trump’s political operation has launched a targeted campaign seeking to oust Massie, who has regularly criticized the administration and refused to support its legislative agenda.
Kapur asked Massie if he thought the president’s effort “will backfire in the next two years.”
“I think it’s going to backfire tremendously,” Massie said. “Number one, I think they are wasting millions of dollars against me and they are going to lose the majority because of that, but number two, I think it will embolden Republicans who are right now quietly agreeing with me, but saying ‘I am afraid of winning my primary, let’s see if you can win yours, Massie.’”

Massie is anti trump
Lol. I despise Massie. But his constituents elect him, so he’s in Congress and not beholden to POTUS. That’s how America works. Warts and all.
This pursuit of Massie is pointless and little more than a feel-good exercise at this point.
Apparently he hasn’t looked at President Trumps track record.
"CBS News poll shows a 54-point net swing downward in Trump’s approval among 18 to 29 year olds, shifting from 55% approval and 45% disapproval in February to 28% approval and 72% disapproval in July.
https://x.com/AFpost/status/1947753511934169114 All the old liberal boomers are sure to turn out. However, a key sector of Trump's coalition appears shaky right now.
Again, Libertarians by their very nature tend to act this way.
They are essentially conservative theater kids
Arrogant little b.

Massie and the Squad are Bffs
The 'zog' (Zionist Occupation Government) keyword is a neo-nazi / skinhead / blood libel keyword. Not only does it *not belong on FR*, its advocates should be banned. Here are the rest of the additions since yesterday, sorted:
THIS
I just scrolled around and see he trails a designated (Niki Lee, Trump endorsed) opponent by 31% to 19%, with over 50% undecided.
Don’t think I have seen any measurement like that before. I’m not sure there can be a valid MOE with a 50+% undecided measurement like that.
Either Massie deliberately helps the Left, or he is a Useful Idiot to the Left.
If a democrat had stood up and voted against Biden’s prioritiesThey would be betraying him...What's your point?
BTW, Massie didn't betray Trump, his vote was betraying us.
You're the only one to mention Trump.
Maisie is anti-Semitic.
Notice the ones that are so quick to stab President Trump in the back?
bad move by trump.
Neocon warmonger RINO’s like Graham,Cornyn and Murk need to be primaried, not weird libertarians
Another poll showed it as 52%-23%.
I doubt he’s correct on all counts - Massie is currently polling at 19%. Possible he could bounce back, but Trump has dedicated an entire operation to getting rid of him - same as was done with Liz Cheney.
Barrons, based in New York, thinks it is worse in Kentucky. LOL
