well, I got to where I could speak enough Japanese to go out on the town. But, today, you can use a translator in like 69 languages. I’m involved in talking to people overseas via keyboards and they don’t speak a word of English.
Nobody on the planet studies English more than the Japanese but speaks it less. Not because they can't, but because they are embarrassed to come across as less than perfect. Not all of them, by any means, but a vast majority. This will sometimes work to your advantage at tourist guide area. But generally, I've found that they are greatly relieved when you can speak Japanese.
Toyota up 13% and Honda 9% now. Rip Ford.
Too polite to be overt. Somebody might p!ss in you saki, though.

Hey Ann Archy, Wear your head proud when you visit Japan. The people here love Americans and we treat them with equal respect. Look at how well we Americans treat Japanese baseball players like Shohei Otani. And what other country in the world would allow foreign companies (Toyota, Honda) to dominate their domestic market for family sedans [in exchange for providing fabulous jobs]? Retired to Japan 2.5 years ago. Hoping my wife and I's residency visas keep being renewed. And they likely will be since my wife is an ex-Japanese national. Previously I lived for three years at the U.S. Navy base in Sasebo (Nagasaki state) 45 years ago where I met my sweetheart. At the time I befriended a 40-ish Japanese guy who spend a couple years in the USA and spoke very good English. We shared a lot of laughs, and one time he confided in me:
If you plan to visit the greater Tokyo area, I can give you some tourist advice Send me a freeper mail. Cheers. |
If memory serves, Japan loves President Trump.
