A provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act states all visitors who need nonimmigrant visas to enter the U.S.—tourists, business travelers and international students, to name a few—must pay a “visa integrity fee,” currently priced at $250. Travelers who comply with their visa conditions will be eligible for reimbursement. The provision is estimated to bring in $28.9 billion over the next decade.

Visitors to the United States will need to pay a new fee to enter the country, according to the Trump administration’s recently enacted bill.

“It is a revenue source as stated. You did read this article AND others didn’t you?”

I read the article. It is a source of revenue. Now, think.

If it is refundable but considered a source of income who are those providing that income.

1”It WILL stop some, not all.”

Exactly. Not designed to stop the flow. A source of revenue. $39 billion as scored by the CBO.

“””This is not a fee on casual visitors here for a few days or weeks vacation, no? This is for “visitors” who plan on being here a while, maybe working too, yes?””””

I have the same questions. It seems the media reports on this fee are less than forthcoming as to what this fee is and to whom will it apply.

If the US were to implement a $250 fee on a tourist visa, then the other countries will do the same.

It’s refundable if they don’t overstay.

That's a lot of overstaying if they expect to reap $28 billion from the fee.

It will likely cost more than the $250.00 to process those refunds.

Yep. More likely it will result in other countries slapping U.S. travelers with a similar fee.

CBO scoring says most will not apply for refunds.

A lot of the countries I have visited charge some type of travelers’ fee, although $250 would be the largest by far.

Let’s make the world think just a little less of us.

No different than the toll fees we pay in Texas, except there are no reimbursements.

“It’s refundable if they don’t overstay.”

It’s refundable so $250 is a ridiculously low amount given the paperworks costs. They could just fine any overstayer a big sum as deterrent, no new law is needed.
Yet another stupid idea slipped in by Congress to feed the wastefull bureaucracy.

Good

Since most of them overstay their visas and we don’t bother to grab them!

So a consultant coming into the country for a few days will just pass that along to their U.S. client as a line item, no?
