Maybe ‘no read English’ ... so the libs now want signage warnings in 72 languages posted on doors.
My father-in-law was crippled for life in an MRI machine. He told them he had an artificial knee, but they assured him it would be fine. It twisted his leg into a knot, with his foot up near his head. He was screaming for them to let him out.
Doctors said the leg was far too damaged for them to be able to fix it. The metal knee was twisted into knots. They managed to get his foot lower than his hips. But he never walked again and died about a year later.
Titanium should be fine, assuming it is all titanium.
It presumably has stainless steel in it, too, which is the problem.
I hate when that happens.
Weird story of the day.
Why would she need her husband for assistance?.....that’s what the techs are for.
Big big Mama.
1. No need to look alert
2. Cash grab/pay day/sue deep pockets ploy. I’m pretty sure this was done on purpose and he thought he would just be injured. Just like those car rear ending insurance scammers.
No brainer really if you think about the size of some Stacey Abrams types.
THIS! At the very least, they intended to sue the medical facility for his injuries. Heck I see people jaywalking practically daring you to hit them so they can sue you.
Yesterday afternoon I saw for the first time some clips of what happens when metal is present near the machine. This morning I read this. Weird.
When I had my first and only MRI they were thorough in asking about/inspecting for metal. They did not, however, explain the reason, namely a magnetic force capable of tearing limb from limb.
Now I know.
“ why was she asking for him to come in and help her up?”
When my dad’s Parkinson’s got real bad, he needed assistance getting up. He did not want me to help because I wasn’t trained how to properly help. Maybe she wanted her husband’s help because he knew her needs? Maybe she was distraught after the MRI?
Or maybe it’s the usual bad writing with garbled facts.
“…my wife’s had plenty of MRIs and never once needed me in the room.”
Maybe you need to let her go to the spa for a getaway.
From what I’ve been told it’s all titanium.
What’s the ‘M’ in ‘MRI’ for?
Thanks, good to know. I hope your wife is ok, sounds a lot more serious than my neck.
“...but isn’t it common knowledge that the MRI machine produces a strong magnetic field?”
Probably is now.
I had one and was asked about metal. I figured it would only distort the image. No one said a word about the lethal magnetism.
Well at least he didnt have metal in his eye.
If true, it should be OK. Titanium is not ferromagnetic.
But a lot of times the titanium encases a stronger metal.
There is a model and part number for your screw (and a serial number). You can have it checked specifically. Worth knowing.
Is this one of those stories about not enough qualified tech personnel so they had some DEI hire turning his life around?
Not sure why, but I just love this headline.
