U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is "very concerned" about Israel's strikes on Syria.
"We're going to be working on that issue as we speak," Rubio said, Reuters reported.
"I just got off the phone with the relevant parties. We're very concerned about it, and hopefully we'll have some updates later today."
Rubio said the U.S. wants the fighting to stop, Reuters added.
There are clashes between Syrian government forces and local Druze fighters, the latter of which Israel is seeking to protect.
Major General Uri Gordin, who leads the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Northern Command, said in a statement that the military is "operating decisively" in southern Syria and targeting "Syrian regime assets".

Rubio hasn’t struck me as a loose cannon, blurting out stuff on his own. How do we know he wasn’t directed by President Trump to say this very thing? Trump’s always saying that people should avoid war if they can help it.
I have no doubt Rubio was conveying Trump’s stance
