What a couple of welchers and reniggers .
NONE of the at least arguable rationales for getting involved in this war apply here — a Pearl Harbor-like attack; fighting the military expansion of communism (Korea, Vietnam); stopping an aggressor trying to control the world’s oil supply or acquire nuclear weapons (Iraq, Iran); attacks on our ships (Houthis).
” nah, let the USA do it”
Spit .
Tariff their asses some more Donald.
And they do this without any sense of introspection and self-awareness, too.
Of course Ukraine is, or at least was, an ally of the United States
We conservatives on this thread absurdly sought to list guilt for this war in order of responsibility, always, it seems, an attempt discredit Zelinski. This is not Zelinski's war, not Ukraine's war alone, not Biden's war, it was and is our war because we, our country, brought it on even if unwittingly, we funded it, we armed it, we sanctioned the Russians, and we announced our support to Zelinski when he addressed a joint session of Congress.
Nor was Biden acting alone, Republicans up and down the line in and out of Congress enthusiastically supported the war. We conservatives showered Zelinski with personal support. We, that is we Americans, called Zelinski the new Winston Churchill-and with good reason, he was fighting for the very survival of his nation and importuning the richest nation on earth for support, exactly as Churchill had done during Britain's Finest Hour.
2. The country is led by a guy who made campaign appearances on behalf of Kamala Harris in 2024.
So what? Trump sent the Secretary of Defense, the Vice President, the Secretary of State to Germany to campaign for AFD. Israel mixes into our politics every cycle but remains an ally.
3. There is no compelling national interest at stake for the U.S. in this Russia-Ukraine debacle.
Trump now seems to think there is. All of NATO thinks there is. Almost all of Europe thinks there is. The Pacific rim nations, terrified of China and dependent on alliance with the United States, know what the implications of American perfidy to Ukraine means for them.
There isn’t an issue that defines the utter corruption of the U.S. political establishment more clearly and thoroughly than Ukraine.
A few days ago I might've said the DOGE report puts lie to the bromide about Ukraine and corruption as opposed to American corruption-or worldwide corruption.
Today, however, I've merely to say the word, Epstein.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone who even remotely identifies with the MAGA movement would give one tenth of a sh!t about a country’s leaders and U.S. handlers have gone to such great lengths to engineer a coup against Donald Trump since 2019.
False premise
“such as the Italian-French-made SAMP/T air defense system already supplied to Ukraine”
Zelensky will happily take any weapon system others will pay for.
Another chapter of the same old story, EUROs love war but want the USA to carry all the weight. They deserve to live under Putin or the Muslims, whoever wins first.
I stopped reading when I saw this idiocy.
"We have to stay the course even if it was a mistake to get involved from the start" -- is the kind of nonsense I learned to disregard when I was still a teenager.
As if every clown who is invited to address a joint session of Congress is given carte blanche to dictate U.S. policy indefinitely.
The president of Afghanistan gave an address to a joint session of Congress in 2015 -- more than a decade after the U.S. should have bailed out of that sh!t-hole.
The US introducing advanced arms into the conflict could very well make the war spread. This whole scenario of more arms, seems it is being produced and directed by Lindsey Graham.
US taxpayers will not be stuck with another huge bill for supplying Ukraine. In the first place our President is obsessed with the concept of bigness—MAGA. BIG BEAUTeIFUL BILL, huge multiunit golden apartment in Trump Tower. It has been suggested his tendency to Our excess results from early frustrations when he tried to break into Manhatten society, but was rejected. His figures on our payments for Ukraine are about double the reality. Our contributions and those of Europe had neen similar until recently. Our President has been caused of lies, but I think it is just his desire for everything to be big and impressive, unlike his father’s small homes for everyman.
Regarding the public refusal by France and Italy to take part in this latest weapons plan, I think that reflects insufficient work behind the scenes when dealing with our European associates in the Defense of Ukraine. Two of the longest developed countries of Europe take pride in their countries, and need a certain amount of diplomacy in helping them swallow situations they might not like. Rude power does not impress countries for whom diplomacy is a long developed art form. This form of power does not guarantee long term results for a country where governments can be changed on a regular basis. Friendship and alliances require nourishment over time, not only in Europe, but also in the Far East with countries like Japan, Korea, Indonesia, and even China..
You are a bit mistaken. If Trump had agreed to all of Russia’s demands, the war would have ended on those terms. It hasn’t.
Trump has tried to broker a deal for both sides with a ceasefire in place a the centerpiece.
Russia is greedy and doesn’t want to stop.
We will have to see if the other NATO counties sign onto the deal. That means mainly Germany and England.
As for Macron, he’s perhaps the biggest cheerleader against Russia in Ukraine. If he wants to provide French weapons instead, that’s fine.
But if he’s not going to provide his own weapons in place of the Trump deal then my criticism stands.
We don't need to be protecting the ruling classes of former free world countries that hate our guts.
Please forgive the typos in this comment due to my failing Cromebook’s tendency to jump all over the place, and my failing eyesight to proofread as well as I should.
Mistakes include: letters inserted into BEAUTIFUL; the word OUR put in front of excess; the phrase accused of lies changed to “caused” by lies, by Mr. know it all Chromebook. Thank goodness a new lap top is on order .
“American Democrats will MAKE US Taxpayers pay for ‘em, we ain’t stupid.”
You forgot the Republicans.
True.
The irony is that Trump seems to have changed his mind back, if only for profit. So now we are not only callous and cynical but trimmers and greedy opportunists.
Callous cynicism in foreign relations, as in life, is very bad policy because eventually America will finish last.
Practically from the inception of World War II to the present date France has been an undependable ally == for anyone or any nation. No surprise.
“France declined to join the plan because of President Emmanuel Macron’s push for European nations to strengthen their own defense industries by purchasing domestically produced arms.”
Is this just an excuse to avoid the bill, or will he provide Ukraine a commensurate amount from French manufacturers?

Screw Ukraine and Screw Western Europe.
They aren’t allies in any way, shape or form.
Europeans sneer and look down their noses at us, yet demand that we pay for their defense and their social programs. Enough!
Ukraine has already taken billions of dollars from the US taxpayers. NO MORE!
We owe Europe, including Ukraine, absolutely nothing.
