“For every public dollar provided, stations raise nearly seven dollars from donors, including state and local governments, universities, businesses, foundations and individual viewers and listeners,” according to CPB.
My suggestions? More Fundraising Marathons where they play THE GOOD STUFF FOR FREE, though you have to put up with a few more commercials.

They'll have to compete in the marketplace by providing content that people want to consume?
SPOOKY idea for lifelong grifters.

But the exact impacts are hard to predict because the public radio and TV system is complex.I won't notice any impacts, that's for sure.

Everything I want to watch that was on WPT (Wisconsin Public Television) is now on You Tube. For free, with no whining and begging for cash. ;)

Nothing. They have private donors.

Basically nothing since the federal money component in their overall budget is around 15-20%, and liberal money will flow to them to save Big Bird from extinction.

PBS buys some British drama they air on Sunday evenings.
Things about farm life during WW II. The filming of novels like the Poldark series about a figure of the early 1800s.
The point being, they do have non political content. I will miss that. Hope they prioritize it if they have less funding.

If Free Republic had a “Like” button, I would click it on your post.
Perhaps they will have to learn about moving their content towards ‘what the people want’.

there are shows on PBS i would miss - the production of “Wolf Hall” was spectacular and i love re-do of “All Creatures Great and Small.” but PBS started Passport and several streaming venues in anticipation of something like this. also the good shows - which are usually British - can go to Britbox and Acorn or others for streaming. i assume PBS has contingency plans.

That’s a common government term. And it’s so accurate. At the State level, we claw back money from time to time.

Run ads like every other TV station, radio station, website, and blog does.
You know, hustle for bucks, meet your payrolls, and hope you survive. All those libs who are decrying the BBB permanent tax cuts can take the money they would have spent and donate it to this worthy institution.

They will sink or swim, depending on whether they can sell advertising based on their content, rather than producing whatever they want and waiting for the government check to arrive.
